Where to buy bottles from

HI, Am new to brewing my first batch is brewing as we speak and needing to get some bottles but struggling where to buy from?

I ask people to save them for me. Maybe I just have alcoholic friends but I’m never short.

I reuse my bottles, I've also asked a couple of local pubs to save me their empties which they've done, although not doable right now. I've also bought in bulk from Ideon when I've needed to 330ml Amber Glass Beer Bottle. Even with postage it still seems the cheapest around.

How much does a new 500ml bottle cost, 30p? Go to Aldi, buy Banks Bitter at 89p per bottle, drink contents, bottle 30p and you just had a pint for 59p thats as cheap as homebrew, not the best beer but quite drinkable, alternatively they have quite a choice at just over a pound a 500ml bottle.
Or, go to pub and ask if they have any bottles they don't want, apparently they give them away.

if you like wheat beer buy some erdinger - great to reuse and labels fall of in warm water and the beer's rather good too.

If Mill lodge is open ask them, the GM used to be a lady called Karen, husband was Kitchen Manager. Lovely couple. I'm sure they'll happily let u have some bottles.

I bought mine on brew2bottle. 96 500ml Amber PET bottles for £35 plus £3.50 postage.

Alternatively, there's a seller on ebay selling in multiples of 20, with 100 for £41, free postage.

If you want PET bottles then the Easybrew bottles on Brew2bottle are great quality and cheap.

For glass bottles (and assuming you want to pay for them), this supplier has a good selection. I especially like the Steinie bottles

I ordered 45 500ml glass bottles from ebay on Tuesday morning for £26. Arrived yesterday afternoon. Seller is do it at home UK.

Maybe not too easy at this time but don't buy bottles. Ask local pubs if you can dig through their bottle bins.
I must have gathered over 400 X 500ml bottles, filling 20 + crates doing this at the back end of last year. Family,friends and people I work with save bottles also, especially if they want free samples!

Like most gathered from recycling and saved my empties, I have had a few broken bottle necks when capping on recycled bottles, topped up with a few boxes from brew2bottle when I had an order in, good quality and seem strong.

I use the green Koparberg bottles from my local, they are more than happy to get rid of them. And the labels just fall off after a quick soak

Just make sure you get amber/brown bottles. Both clear and green glass allow UV light from natural daylight and some artificial light into the beer and it will skunk it (react with components in the beer and produce off-flavour compounds). Unless your planning on storing them in the dark it may not be worth the risk.
Also, if they’re for your own consumption swing-top bottles might be a good investment. Stronger than the average 500ml bottle so should take Belgian levels of carbonation and no messing around with capping. Keep them for yourself though as they don’t always make their way back to you!
Reusing beer bottles is great if you have the patience. And, yes, a lot of European beer labels just fall off in warm water, maybe because some of them still have a deposit/return system for bottles.

I have lots of Green and clear bottles but as Edison says, i keep them stored in the Dark so bottle colour isn't important.

I wanted swing top bottles so I didn't need to cap them each time. I've also started collecting plastic fizzy drinks bottles.

If anyone needs any 500ml glass brown bottles I normally have them here from my Westons cider. They would need to be capped
