I have just used the WHC Banana Split yeast and I am very disappointed with it. I fermented at the top end of the range and there is very little taste at all in fact it is very muted. I wonder if it may come good in a week or so as I have only just kegged it.
I have just pitched WHC saturated and am hoping it is better than the Banana. I also have Sweet Release to try in a later brew
Anybody else used these yeasts and what success have you had?

That's a real shame.

Have used Einstein, Farnhouse Vibes, and Mango Madness and have generally been very happy at the price point.

Have Saturated in the fermenter now and can't comment on the aroma/flavour profile, the fermentation has been good.

Hi,
The WHC line up has been a massive hit and with some brilliant feedback. I have just brewed my best ever Hefeweizen using the Banana Split. Think that a week in the keg and it will be a different beer.
Oyster Boys like it too

Did you underpitch/ferment low? Any tips for this strain?

Should I watch the video to find out? 😂

Pitched 1 pack into 23l so just a small under-itch, fermented at 18. It did have about 2 weeks cold crash then about the same once kegged.
I was dubious about the use of the US hops but it definitely gave it some rounded orange back flavour notes.
Also, I would normally drink this beer style much fresher, actually a little lagering seems to have improved it.

I am now drinking a Wit beer which i used Banana split at the low end of its range and it is a cracking beer , planning on brewing a Hefe next at the high end of the yeasts range ,and hopefully get a bit of banana etc, also it will be interesting comparing the two ester profiles ,

Interesting to see the video, as M20 Heffweizen is one of my most reliable regulars. And just now, fermenting regular HW recipe, but using WHC Banana Split.

As with M20, aiming for slowish start, and not over oxygenating at start but using bucket fermenter for larger surface area.

Initial ferment 18°C for 3 days, now at 21°C till primary finished (or I'm back home, whichever the latter).
Noticibly stronger essence of banana, that M20, for first few days.

Will compare brew, to remaining bottles of HW using M20.
