Not last night but the night before, I had my first ever wheat beer. It was a swap from a friend. Great head on it and a nice colour. However, at the start I was not sure this was for me. As I get towards the end it got better. I have one more bottle of it to go in the swap, but not sure I would make 30 bottles of it.

Took SWMBO shopping tonight to ASDA and she bought me 4 bottles (4 for £6 offer) 3 of my favourites and this which i have never tried before i like Black Wych (porter) so i hope this is as good.

Had some nice feedback from work so decided to treat myself. Working my way through the St Bernadus 6, 8 & 12.

Preferred the Rochefort 6 & 8 but have high hopes for the St Bernadus 12 as it is often mentioned in the same breath as Westvleteren 12...

And it was fantastic. No idea if it's up there with Westvleteren 12 (seeing as I've never had it!) but delicious all the same. Raisins, toffee, a touch of clove & spice and it very much masked its 10% ABV.

Really happy that Beerwulf has made beers like this accessible to the UK at a reasonable price. Will definitely be using them again.

My own ale, just cracked open, doesn't taste good: watery and saline. Might give it 2 more weeks otherwise it's down the garden with the 16L.

Arkells's Mash Tun Mild, Third AG attempt, brewed in early may and bottled on 27th May. The recipe is straight out of Graham Wheeler's Brew your own British real ale book. A nice easy drinking and very flavorful brew at 3.5% I have plenty, so sesh-on!

Tonight it's NUNS DELIGHT probably the best Shepherd Neame brew available. Picked up some short dated bottles in France last week (0.66p / bottle), so thought I'd 'take one for the team'... It's tough, but I'm managing....
