A cracker of an afternoon to enjoy a cracker from Vault City

Ahh funny, I preferred the Golden Ale, though both were great. Thought the hop flavour was just right, and well balanced. I can imagine it would go down well, at 4.4% you could sink a few. Got to say im feeling your IPA and may have to go down the abv if im going to make eurovision. 😂

What were the hops for your beers?

Im going challenger and something like harlequin for the golden (though i have no idea) and Mosiac or Galaxy for sure in the WCIPA.

The golden ale was bittered with Admiral and then used EKG and Ernest for the late additions.

The IPA is bittered with Magnum then used Chinook, Simcoe and Amarillo. More of the latter two though. It did come out a touch higher ABV than expected, was aiming for 5.8%. A slight happy accident though as I think the lower FG gives it a crisper finish.

I wouldn't have guessed! 🤣

I can see why you said Galaxy for the IPA. There's a definite passionfruit note that reminds me of Galaxy. I think it's come from the Simcoe though. I used some Cryo hops that I picked up as freebies whilst I was at SIBA BeerX so wondering whether they are a touch stronger in the citrus/passionfruit than standard T90 pellets.

The current batch of Helles is almost there, another week and it’ll be good to go.

Now that's an idea,
Snap!
A Munich Helles from The Garden Brewery, Zagreb.
A SMASH, Pilsner malt, Hallertau Mittelfruh hops and Helles Fire Club yeast.
Herbal notes and bready clean, crisp tasting lager.
Just like it says on the can.
The backdrop image is my First Gold (or Prima Donna) plant.
One of three planted last autumn.
It's a dwarf variety, and I followed the recommendation to cut back all early shoots 10 weeks before mid-Summer's day.
We shall see.

A rather special S. A. Chardonnay to accompany baked Black Spot Sea Bream.
The special reason is we have just heard we are Grandparents for the first time.
The Champagne will be saved to share when they return with the baby. 🥂
Ohh, that looks the business. Forget about the good news, tell us more about the wine!

OK, the wine:
a 2017 Oaked Chardonnay from Moreson of Franschhoek, South Africa.
Bought from Vivino.
Custard cream on nose and palate (oak presumably), dry but rich, full bodied and long.
An excellent (lucky) match for the baked Red Sea Bream, which was creamy.
Not so good (overpowering) with the green beans, closer with the miso and oiled grilled aubergine, fine with the ovened oil roasted Charlotte potatoes.
It was the last one and needed drinking, the baby and the fish made a good excuse to have it.
