HB Cream Ale. 4.5kg Low Colour Maris Otter and 1.0kg Flaked Maize. 5.5% ABV. When I tapped the keg I was worried it had chill haze, but another week of lagering made it crystal clear (about two weeks in total). First time making this, and will make it again.

Sorting out my fishing gear for tomorrow, as usual not sure what to target. At the moment roach but hopefully a few spring tench. The beer Golden Bitter first off, only one long neck left after this one.

Next up my Bassish Pale ale clone. Best thing about this for the fishermen is the bi-product, one kilo of flaked corn in the grist makes it a perfect candidate for burley for carp. Being as I 'No sparge' leaves ample amount of sugar in the spent grain. I always freeze a kilo or so of the spent grain to add to the burley (ground bait) the carp love it.

Interesting about the groundbait usage..if my son ever gets me back out on the lakes in the future I will have to give that a go.
The fish you talk about seem very English, I would have expected more exotic species in your neck of the woods..Catfish or some razor teethed relation to a pike🤔

Every so often I quite enjoy an ice-cold Pilsner. Tonight’s the night and I’m having a pint of my Czech Pilsner.

To bad I'm in the states. I think we would be rotating between each other's dwellings and having a great time drinking beer! I'm big in to smoking food too. If you are ever in the states in Colorado send me a message and we will have a great time!

It probably won’t happen but if it ever does I’ll happily take you up. 😉

We have some English species, every species was transported by the early settlers but the few we have were the only ones to survive. Mirror and common carp, tench, English perch and roach. We have Southern catfish in Victoria only go to about 6 kg.
Murray cod are the biggest freshwater fish I think the current record is 113 kg. They used to be bigger. Our eels are big too.

Colorado has some great breweries. I've travelled there a lot for business in the past. When I've driven through Golden with co-workers, I generally get a good gasp when I tell them the story I know of why Clear Creek (where Coors got its water) is so clear. I was told the story of gold mining shafts being blasted shut with old cyanide barrels inside that leached out. Killed everything in the creek. If it's true or not, I do not know. Lovely scenery though.

Yes, I'm not sure on that story, but I'm about 45 minutes outside of Golden and about twenty minutes from Left Hand Brewery.
