Both kids are asleep, SWMBO is away with her sister and a friend eating dinner. I am continuing my rewatching of Lost.

First beer of the weekend is a challenger and Ernest pale from @531Man . Nice and clear in appearance..very very low carbonation. Aroma had light caramel with some English yeast character( maybe. Liberty bell).flavour had a English yeast charter with some herbal and fruity English hop didn't really get the gooseberry citrus flavour from the Ernest. Fermentation seemed clean and didn't have any obvious flaws..apart from the carbonation which I think was too low..not sure if I dud bottle or if you were aiming for cask level of carbonation? There was no head with the beer from the pour so it was almost flat. All the same nice flavours, just lacked a little drink ability with the low carb . Thanks for sharing🍺

@pilgrimhudd I don't like to play siblings off against one another. But I think I preferred the less premium one. Don't get me wrong the bitterness is big, just on the cusp of burning, but not quite. Has a piney, earthy quality to it. I think it'll do well after a month in the bottle.

Thank you for my Friday treats.

'Premium' 🤣

Thanks, glad you enjoyed, I think your right could do with a little longer.

Good tasting beer that one. Not a big fan of most of their beers but that one is decent bitterness and good flavour.
Was up at the North coast during the summer and it was on tap and thought it tasted very good on draught.
First beer since last sat or was it sun 💁‍♂️
a Belgian blonde. Few of these first then move on to an ipa I think. If only the beer shed wasn’t so far away View attachment 61600
I'm trying to work out where to get a kegerator/keezer in the house as it's a bit perilous making my way to the garage to pour a drink now. Gets gradually more difficult as the night goes on 😂

First try of the Cali Common I brewed the day after boxing day and kegged a week ago.
A user upper with extra pale MO, MO, Light Munich, Extra dark crystal and Cara. Bittered with Admiral and late boil/hopstand/dry hop with Cascade ( MJ54 ) .
Crisp maltiness, slightly fruity, caramelly sweetness but finishes nice and bitter at 44 IBU.

Interrupting my dry January tonight.

cwych attempt

First glass tasted like a Guineas shandy.

Second glass was like a fizzy bitter smithwick’s

Third glass like a coffee lager.

it’s a weird one. Obviously not even close to what I or most people would be aiming for!

… But for some strange reason it’s kind of mourish!

I don’t mind walking half way down the garden in the summer but in the winter it’s a pain. Tonight is mild though so it’s fine. I have worn a path down the grass from back door to shed though.
no chance of a kegerator in the house for me. It would be too tempting.

Yeah a bit of a pain. The security light on the garage has just packed in, so torch is required. Need to get that sorted !

NEIPA - my first glass from this batch and it’s beautiful. I think I’ve got my water treatment spot on, what little bitterness it has is on the back of the tongue and doesn’t linger, and there’s plenty of tropical and stone fruit flavours. Only criticism is the aroma is t as strong as I would have liked.
