New house, new brew space. And it got its first run out today.

First a quick tour.

Inaugural Brew - Angry Pirate, NZ Pilsner

Water - Ca 260, SO4 260, Cl 250, Mg 6
I was a bit surprised by this, but it’s what Grainfather recommended for style 🤔

Fermentables (23L batch)
3kg Weyermann Eraclea Pilsner
1.6kg Pale Malt
250g Wheat Malt

Mash
65C - 60min
75C - mash out

Hops
20g Motueka - First Wort
14g Nelson Sauvignon - 10min
28g Riwaka - 5min

Yeast
Novalager - fermenting at 14C

Vitals
IBU 29, OG 1.054, Expected ABV 5.5%

That’s very strange water, I thought I remembered reading that NZ water is low in minerals. Are you kegging or bottling it?

Kegging.
Yes, I was going to dial back but had a feck it moment.
It’ll either be the next big thing or something I’ll never do again!

Fortunately I have a low tolerance for crap in my life, even more so after the very traumatic downsize that I’ve just went through.
There’s still a couple of runs to the dump in the bits of the garage that you can’t see 😂.
