Hiya

If you like craft beer I’d suggest Brew York. If not, The Maltings is still an excellent, respectable pub, if you don’t mind the no swearing rule.

The three tuns on coppergate does decent cask beer. The Golden Fleece on pavement is good. The skeleton in the bar is quite novel.

Pavement vaults is quite good.
Apart from that, everywhere we’ve been today are decent places. There’s soo many places!

Hope that helps a little. Ask @Clint too as he knows the crack in York. 😬
Thanks

Having a Founders Breakfast Stout clone brewed by @phildo79. It’s a long time since I had the original so can’t comment on how close it is, but it’s a really great stout.
Pours with a tan head that lasted for most of the pint. Inky black, but when held up to the light clarity is good andthe colour is deep a Amber. The aroma is of dark fruit with a strong coffee note. Both are evident on the palate, complex dark fruit flavours with coffee notes coming through. The mouthfeel is smooth, great length of flavour and it really hides the 8+%ABV well.
It’s a big grown ups drink that has been perfectly excecuted. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Tess
Me and the family are off to York for my 70th birthday next weekend. We lived there for a year in 2003/4 in St Andrews close, and we loved it. We’ve got the restaurants booked for Friday and Saturday but not the best places to drink. My locals back then were
The Maltings
The Black Swan
The Blue Bell
The Last Drop
can you suggest some other haunts for us after we’ve put the grandkids to bed and found a babysitter?
Thanks
Dave

I could be doing with a few of them tonight. I am getting it tight with a head cold (@pilgrimhudd more Derry lingo for you)

Really enjoyed the one I had last night, some big flavours going on. I really must try and brew one myself

I am starting of with @dave Belgian pale.
Lovely golden straw colour, clarity is excellent. Aroma of light lemon and Belgian spice, really well balanced beer. Belgian flavour and aroma is on the light side which allows the hops to shine more. Interesting hop selection of adeena and Idaho gem.

That’s a lot darker than my one. What was your grain bill ?
Yeah that one wasn't the Greg Hughes one and had light crystal addition hence the colour. Here is the malt/hops

550 g (8.6%) — Weyermann Carapils/Carafoam — Grain — 3.9 EBC
350 g (5.5%) — Simpsons Crystal Light — Grain — 100 EBC
Hops (229 g)
45 g (37 IBU) — Chinook 8.1% — Boil — 60 min
21 g
(4 IBU) — Centennial 8.6% — Boil — 5 min
100 g
— Citra (t90) 13% — Dry Hop — 5 days
