Just a sample for me tonight.

Kegged my pilsner last night so wanted to check she was ok.

Should have checked the gas level before pouring. Needs more time to lager, this first keg will be drank young whilst the 2nd keg will be kept for spring and possibly the LAB comp.

A guest beer next, this one is a 5.5% Czech Amber Lager from @Tess Tickle.

In appearance it’s a beautiful clear copper coloured beer with a good off-white head. The head collapsed after a minute or so forming a blanket of quite dense foam over the surface which then persisted throughout. Carbonation is maybe a tad high for this style?

The aroma, while cold, was initially dominated by white bread-dough malt and with a hint of floral hops. As the beer warmed, a caramel aroma became apparent with just a hint of diacetyl giving an enriched butter caramel note.

The malt flavour is surprisingly complex and rich, I think I’m getting both dry cracker and sweet caramel at the same time! Spicy fruity notes emerge from the malt and fade to a residual lingering bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the balance of the beer is toward bitter-dry.

Thank you for sending me another lovely beer! athumb..
