Well, I'm now due into work at 05:00 in the AM, we are half expectingv 'snowmageddon' over night, I think it'll be a farce, but...

Anyway, I'm due in early as the closest senior bod to site, so I get to man the phones while the shift guys rung up and see if we're shut due to snow :) The plus side is that I'll be finished by 13:00 and on my way home, if it does seriously snow I'll be in work before the traffic gets moving and clogs the roads, manage the waifs strays into snow clearing and then pack up and come home when the traffic clears a bit. By going in I get paid the full day, and the boss will award me brownie points as he's out in the boondocks with precious little chance of making it in if it DOES snow.

I've also had to change the bulb twice today, orange alert and red alert, not sure if I've got a vermillion bulb or not ;)

Round 1 in Barnsley....... 1" snow
Round 2 tomorrow????

BB

You not posting a pic this year, of activity in your area BB?

Sods bloody law this is. My days off start tomorrow, 3 days off, the snow will be cleared by the time I go back, and won't get a snow day this year :(

just seen on the news there is a yellow snow warning inforce in this area, why do they make the jokes so easy?

Snowing heavily now here in deepest, darkess West Oxfordshire.

Mrs Slate Miner popped into Sainsburys after work yesterday evening, apparently people were panic buying.

Gutted... only about 1cm worth has fallen over night. Suppose this will mean i have to go into work :-(

Like I said before, if I can't get in to work I lose a day's pay or forfeit a day's holiday :(

Anyway, it's the same here at the moment, just 1cm and the main roads have been well treated and are just wet. I avoided the country lanes and took a slightly longer route this morning though as there was just enough white stuff to make them treacherous but not enough to give you any purchase.

About an inch on the ground here overnight and it's just started again after trying for a while...it's still scorchio in glorious Madchester though

4" so far here, not attempting the journey to work yet, with a reported road closures on my route. It was forecast to be at its worst in about an hour, might see if clears a bit later.

we've had a dusting since yesterday and on and off all night Calm before the storm now apparently.
But..... I've just finished work for 7 days... so I don't care ! I haven't got to go out in it apart from walk the dog.....

Glad I'm sat in the house and not out working lol

it was clear when I left the house at half 7, and clear when I got to Hackney at half 8, but started snowing in Hackney at about half nine, ten ish. still coming down now, and if it gets worse, and I start hearing of train problems I will definitely switch off, and take the laptop home, and carry on "work at home" this afternoon.

Well, I made it into work and we made the call to keep the place going at first, sadly by 09:00 the snow was no better and the roads weren't being plowed so the boss shut the factory.

I'll get paid as I was in for a few hours, but anyone who failed to make it on site will either go unpaid, or take a holiday, or have to work unpaid overtime in the next couple of weeks to 'pay back' the missed hours today.

My wife was told to either walk in, or expect a reprimand as that's her employer's policy, it applies to all ranks so I've no problem. Her employer also doesn't know she has a Freelander, so no real problems covering 2 miles in 4 inch of snow :)
