i have been using midget widget gas for about a year on my cornie kegs and works well for me but the hb shop say that it is no longer available dose any one know where i can get some i live in croydon south London or if i can get the bottles refilled.was looking of ways to go to a bigger bottles as it £14 a bottle but I am finding it hard to buy co2 and not sure about the fittings for other bottle types can any one help :thumb:

would probably be more cost effective and last longer if you either bought a full cylinder (pub size) or rented off boc £21 for a full bottle then a couple of quid rental per month

I also found a local supplier of pub gas. Cost me £60 refundable deposit (so I can get that back if I ever quit :thumb: ) and then £15 for the refill. Its a biggun though, not sure on the Kg but it stands a meter high so will last a looooong time.

They delivered free too and will deliver/collect refills for free too.

You will need to factor in a regulator too though. Mine was £45 from Norm. Personally I figured it far better value in the long term especially if you have cornies and want to force carb them.

Our c02 has lasted 2 years up too non its just about empty now im going to rent off boc they do mixed gas nitrogen and c02 perfect for beer they charge 20 quid for first gas bottle full then 2.50 per month rental then when empty its 20 quid for a refill

I have seen some people have purchased an adapter for the midget widget system so you can fit the new style soda stream bottles. Might work out a bit cheaper.

Only reason I know was I was researching it when deciding if I should get some cornies. Out of interest, how long did one of the those midget widget cylinders last? and were you force carbing with it?

i don't force carb with it just to get the beer out and a bit of head.and i get about two full kegs out of one bottle.thanks on the heads up on the adapter do you know how sells them.

There was some new company in the uk that was making something similar which looked more liked a machined piece of metal you would do in your local college metal work class. Don't think it got great reviews and I think it cost more, I don't have the link I'm afraid.

so do you prime the corny first with sugar to produce a bit of fizzy, or do you have more flat style ale?

i do more flat type but you can work out how much you sugar you would put in one bottle and work out from there that will give you some fizz in it
