    first bottle bin raid

Right, hammer on capper it is then. I did float the idea of switching bottles and drinking 50 bottles of Black Sheep as suggested earlier but Mrs Zal was not entirely supportive of the idea. At this point I decided discretion was the better part of valour and concluded that now was not the time...

    first bottle bin raid

Oh if only funds would allow, a bench capper is a month's supply of beer :drink: , hammer... glass... what could possibly go wrong. On the plus side, casualty is at the end of my road

    first bottle bin raid

I've always struggled with the idea of hitting a glass bottle with a hammer but given the sacrifices I've made to get the 50 bottles (25 litres of Hobgoblim was such a struggle  ) I'll give it a go :) 2000?? ruddy hell, now that's gonna take some serious brewing to fill, you...

    yeast supplier wanted

I need to work on my Bentonite technique, I've tried a few times to use it and, although I do get some slurry that I can pitch in, I still end up with lumps of clay. I've tried warm water, mini whisks and leaving it for the indicated 15 minutes between stirrings but can's get rid of the lumps...

    yeast supplier wanted

I've been using Young's Dried Active yeast for a while now, 7 brews under my belt and hardly made a dent in the pot. This is available from most HBS or online suppliers (mine is currently beyond it's sell by date and still working well too). Having said all that I am going to switch to the...

There's you're answer then, weak wine = Perry :D To be fair I had no idea it wasn't a wine, the little buggers in the supermarkets put it on the wine shelf.. sneaky sods

A couple of weeks ago our local Tesco was out of white grape juice but now has plenty of white and red, might just be a temporary blip

Bugger! on the plus side 50 Bottles of Black Sheep it is then... Oh the sacrifices we make for our art :drunk: Thanks for the heads up on the Wychwood bottles, It's good to know this before I hit the point of no return with a brew :nono:

    first bottle bin raid

I'm currently in the process of collecting 500ml brown glass beer bottles for an intended kit brew shortly. I have found the best supplier is Sainsbury's, at the moment they sell 3 for £5 and pre fill them with Hobgoblin  I am thoroughly enjoying collecting my 50 bottles.... only 6...

muntons premium chardonnay 30 bottle kit

That'll explain why it was £20 in Wilko then, still can't grumble at that price for 30ish bottles, it all goes down the same way in the end :drink: On the plus side this kit had cleared a treat in the primary FV and is crystal clear after first racking, the extra 11 days was certainly worth it.

muntons premium chardonnay 30 bottle kit

You're not kidding it's a bit dark, I've just racked mine off after 21 days in the primary and thought it had all gone horribly wrong. It looks like over brewed tea in the bucket and a very dark lager in the glass. This thread reassures me a little though and it doesn't taste too bad, if a...

Does wine have to be bottled?

Excellent, I'll get rid of the microwave to make room for more important kitchen equipment  Thank you.

Does wine have to be bottled?

Just out of interest, what are the rough dimensions of the box? at 20 Litres I'm not expecting it to go in the fridge but I wonder if it's big enough to get a SWMBO complaint if it's located on the breakfast bar!
