Having another Vienna, this one is from the keg the other was the dregs of the all rounder I say dregs prob about 4L left, this one is colder and more carbed it is a lovely beer very malty and the hops really come through
Currently on a drop of red wine but not the first drink. In Wales and had a pint in Machynlleth while waiting for pre odrered fish and chips. It was Allsops Pale which might have been ok if not overchilled and clearly stale and lacklustre. It speaks volumes that it led to fantasies of necking the Stella in the fridge! A positive is that it made me see my AG in a favourable light!
Doing a calibration of pilsner urquell and my attempt at it. The difference is clear.
The real version has a different mouthfeel, almost slightly metallic and has a very strong corn malt aroma. the HB version is much softer drinking and has a floral hop, malt aroma with a hint of corn.
Flavour wise they are similar with the real version more malty and the HB version more hop forward.
Overall they are surprisingly similar, I need to get the malt closer but I think I prefer the HB version from the hops standpoint.
I called into Sainsbury's and my local shop today to check out the beer selection. Very few stouts or porters on offer. Loads of hazy IPA's with all kinds of add on's. Seen one with peanut butter and jelly sandwich
And a Belgian Abbey ale to finish.
These always taste like the best of Austrian weissbier (an Erdinger at the Mooserwirt) to me.
Which imitated which I wonder?
Or was it just convergent evolution?
