A first try of my wcipa with all American c hops whilst making rhubarb jam

Finally got my hands on a couple 6 packs. This one is good, although a bit more like a German pils than the westbound and down or Russian river version.

I'm sure Firestone walker were the first American brewery to start brewing the style after meeting the original brewer who invented Tipo Pils so the hops are probably similar to the original before other breweries started using more modern Euro hops. Although I see they use Saphir which is fairly modern. Found a BYO recipe that says the original version used Saaz dry hop🤔

Yeah Pivo seems to use similar hops to the WB&Down version although without H Blanc. STS uses Aramis. I think Pivo might just have a smaller dry hop charge because it was much less aromatic and less floral than the others. It's probably more similar to Tipo though.

Makes sense. The original recipe is only 20g dry hop in a 19l batch..little sprinkle.
What's WB & Down?
