Great colour though.
Indeed. It was a very nice beer, just had a tough act to follow.

OMG....I used to holiday in Rathmullen nearly every year when I was a kid. Many happy times fishing off the pier and going into the Beachcomber bar (think that's what it was called) with my Dad. If I was lucky he'd let me have a gulp of the head of his Guinness! Haven't been there for a long time now. Happy memories. They have a place at Rathmullan as well. You need deep pockets to visit
Beachcomber still there and is as good as it ever was. They sell pints on scraggy bay as wellOMG....I used to holiday in Rathmullen nearly every year when I was a kid. They're very protective of allowing use of the Trademark so don't dish it out willy-nilly.
It's brewed by Cistercian monks, for the benefit of the Monastery and charity so meets the criteria.
Tynt Meadow by Mount St. Bernard is the English Trappist beer and it's decent too.
My Dad's family are from the North and at one time had a very small bungalow at New Bridge...a few miles outside Rathmullen towards Port Salon. Think we once caught 1 or 2 Mackerel there...alot of time invested for a small catch. Went back maybe 15 years ago and the pier had been expanded quite a bit, didn't see anyone fishing! Would love to go back but find the cost of the boat from the UK extortionate, especially when getting to Europe is so much cheaper. Once my Gran sold her place we used to go to Dunfanaghy instead, also a lovely part of the world! To me the beach at Port Salon is the best I've ever seen....and the drive up the mountain from the beach is spectacularBeachcomber still there and is as good as it ever was. Many a day spent fishing for summer mackerel off the pier myself. It’s a very small world.
