Celebrating pleasing SWMBO by doing some Christmas shopping followed by a successful brew day with a Five Grain Lager clone followed by a Hop Harvest - this is a pale ale made with my home grown Prima Donna hops. Such a lovely fresh hop flavour

217 days in the bottle and I think it’s continuing to improve with age, only four bottles left from this batch really do need to get another one on.

Its a modern invention. houblon chouffe was one of the first I could find when I lived over in that region. There are plenty more now.

Edit according to them it is the first belgian ipa

Really enjoyed the double ipa. Seemed to improve as the glass emptied with the bitterness really shining through at the finale. Definitely time to turn back to the dark now though and step deep into the shadows.

I follow Bargain Brands Pemberton Wigan on Facebook and I've shopped there once. For those in Greater Manchester or Lancs they've got Beer Hawk boxes of 15 for £15 two for £25 and beers for 25p for 500ml or 50p for over 500ml. I'm so tempted but they are in a T3 area so I can't go.

If I remember correctly (seems a really long time ago now) I received a Belgian ipa in the beer swap last Xmas and I really liked the mix of classic Belgian beer up front followed by an ipa style hop hit

Trying the second bottle of my Amarillo. Initially thought it maybe needed more hops as there were none @60 but an extra 2 weeks in the bottle and now spot on

Stunning if you like your lambics.
For me lambics get better with age anyway.
The Bruery ones I got are 2017 and unreal
