I am very annoyed with myself, trying to hurry to keg a brew into a corney I filled it, closed the lid and then proceeded to force carb it as usual.

But I forgot to blast in some co2 whilst keeping the PRV open to get rid of the O2. So I have just forced carbed a load of O2 into my beer along with the co2.

Have I just ruined this one or is there a chance it may turn out ok?

Grrrrrr......very angry with myself, wont be doing it in a hurry again thats for sure. Lesson learned.

Perhaps not ruined.

If you are worrying, you could add some sugar, 30g should be enough. Yeast will ferment it and use all the oxygen still present. The beer might require a week or two longer maturation to clear and you'd get some more sediment.

Happens to me too. I often forget to vent the keg with CO2 after filling.

Thanks for the replies guys. Its been nearly 24 hours so I guess if somethings going to happen its probably too late to try the sugar thing.

I'll certainly remember that for next time.....although I hope there wont be one!!!!!

Think I'll leave it and see what happens.......

I've done the same and not noticed any difference, If you have filled the cornie right up to 19 litres then theres hardly any space between the beer and the lid anyways, aslong as you didnt splash the beer into it then I wouldn't worry.

UPDATE!

I had a quick sample yesterday to see how it was going since its been in the corney for 2 weeks I figured if it was going to go off it would have by now.

Happy to report that its absolutely fine! A little cloudy still (I expected that, its only youing after all!) but tasted great!

Its the St Peters IPA.....
