Do you get better beer if you ferment in stainless steel?

I brew in both. There is never a difference.... Except of course the extra expense of stainless and the weight and the portability and more conductive.

I voted no. I actually favour plastic. In particular. youngs wide mouth jobbies.

Never had an infection I wasn't expecting.
 
Also they are very shiny which is the most important thing surely. But ultimately if I was doing a true cost benefit analysis I doubt they are actually worth the expense but I like them and can’t say I regret buying them.

So I can only conclude is, you need to understand "why" you are buying them.

Bit like a grain mill..... But let's not go there 😁
 
Like your reasoning @obscure.

I'm not bothered about the cost really - not even bothered if they're ugly either. I just want something that works really. If something is out of my price range I save up until I can afford it. That's how I've got most of my equipment.
 
If they made steel buckets with an airlock lid thingy I'd buy half a dozen lol

If steel is how the pro's do it that's good enough for me 😁

They're really not any better than plastic buckets, other than having a tap and being easier to keep clean/sanitary.

Its a lot of money but it looks like i could bottle straight from it with no need of a syphon and it comes with a blow off tube.





A great value for money 5gal (imperial) Fermenter.

The mini - FV has an air tight gasketed lid, fitted with a series of toggle clamps to hold everything in place, giving you a good seal first time every time.

Preconfigured with a 21mm hole at the bottom to allow the fitting of the aptly named “Racktap”.

The “Racktap” tap is a weldless fit tap kit with a racking tube attached to the back of it. Once fitted it can be gently rotated as required to avoid the pick up of yeast and hops during the racking process.

There is another hole in the lid to allow fitting of a 90 degree barb kit and a length of silicone hose which can be attached to create a blow off.

This simple out of the box solution comes with everything you need to get fermenting*.

These pots like our conicals can also be fitted up with cooling coils, temp probes, etc

24l = 30cm x 35cm (small enough to fit in most fridges)

You can indeed bottle straight from it - the rack tap works really well.

I replaced the barb on the lid with a bigger one to take 1/2” tubing, but aside from that it’s perfect.
 
I use 30l stainless milk churns, as said by others you can pour boiling wort into them, I never sterilise them with chemicals. I don't use air locks either, the lid pops up a bit sometimes but milk churn lids are deep. Done over 200 brews with them and not a problem. Cost effective to
