Hi folks it occurred to me the other day when I was cleaning up that there was loads of wort in my hop bags that I'd added as the boil progressed, do folks generally squeeze the wort out and into the FV or just leave them be ?

I run the clear wort off into the fermenter and then knock the hops and trub into a big stainess steel steamer where the wort drains into the pan underneath. If the brew is a bit under-length I'll rinse them through with some still mineral water. If I'm doing a stove-top brew, all the wort and hops gets strained through a cheescloth bag stretched over the same steamer, but without the pan- the perforated section sits nicely on top of a 12L fementer. At the end the bag gets the holy bejasus squeezed out of it.

+1 for the bag squeeze, get as much of that good stuff out as possible. I put mine on a cooling rack above a spare fermenter and use a lid to press the hell out of it.

+1 for squeeze the bag - they also plop out nicely into the food recycle bin then.
