Spectrum Liquid hops

I cant find much on this, other than a GEB sponsors thread that has been closed down.

Has anybody tried this product yet? would they recommend it?

Bump. Just saw this for sale at the malt miller and I'm curious but can't find any info on it anywhere.

I've recently used them. I've not kegged the beer yet so can't really say much about the flavour. But I will say that they are a pain in the **** to get into the beer! Suggesting they are soluble in cold beer is rediculous. I had to mix them with warm water and even then they didn't easily dissolve.

Once I worked that was done they looked like milky tea which was a bit odd. Got another 15ml to try. Fingers crossed they work as described as I'd love to replace the dry hops in the neipas I make as I end up losing about 7 litres of beer.

I'm curious as to why you wouldn't just use normal hops?

The pitch for this kind of thing is all about a) reducing grassiness from hop material when dry-hopping in large amounts and b) reducing beer lost by absorption in hops.

You boil the water first to get rid of the o2.

well, defo don’t keg hop with them! They just sank to the bottom and ruined the beer for at least the first third.
I haven’t bothered since those 2 brews. They are just a PITA to dissolve and get into the beer. They taste good tho when you manage it.

It was mostly user error I suspect. I’m sure they do what they say when you get the hang of how to use them.

I was thinking about this. Maybe mix them in a purged pressure capable vessel like the collection jar from a fermzilla. Has anyone thought about doing that?

I've played around with them on a few brews and I have to say I'm a big fan. I add them close to yeast pitch though, and blend up with some wort in my Nutri-ninja. Means I don't have to worry about oxygen and they get really well dissolved. Huge reduction in losses and some really hoppy beer. Plus don't have to dump out as much dry hop etc

I had a beer by Deya which had 100% of the dry hop from this product and loved it. Hence the rabbit hole...

I suppose you could add to sterilised water in a flex chamber, stick that on a stir plate to gently stir it in and then connect to the dump valve and purge.

Once in a more free-flowing form, you could use the carb cap bottle and line jumper technique I use to inject Brausol into the keg.
