measuring thread size

Hi ive been trying to find a jg fitting to fit my nitrogen regulator but i can't find the correct size Am i measuring it wrong?
Take a look at these pics and see what you guys think.

If you have trouble in future reading or determining a thread size take it to any engineering workshop and consult the almighty 'Zeus' or a borrow set of thread gauges.
