I got taken out by a bike once in london because they were going the wrong way down a road. I stepped out from a central refuge because i could see that no vehicles or any sort were coming down the dual road to my left, only to have a biker smack into my from the right because they decided to go the wrong way down the road to overtake a load of cars sat at the lights. One could argue that I should have also looked to my right sure, i accept that, but I've yet to be hit by a car in my life thankfully.. only a biker.

I'm not anti-biker, just wish all road users followed the rules whatever mode of transport

Totally agree, likewise I totally mullered some lady on Oxford Street once who stepped out in front of me without looking. I was travelling within the speed limit going the right way etc etc.

Often in London I didn't bother with a helmet, a friend had a go at me once saying that I should wear a helmet as it saved her life when a scaffolder had hit her in the head with a pole and she survived because she wore a helmet. When you dug into the story though she'd just drunk 1 1/2 bottles of wine, got on her bike and was cycling the wrong way on a one way road when it happened.

The problem is lack of common sense by all parties.
(That's me too by the way - when cycling I will jump pedestrian crossing on red where the pedestrian has already cleared the crossing & I'm first in the Q with a car way too close beside rather than behind me)
But then I'm not cycling in London or late for work, or a delivery driver.
Worst offenders here are food delivery mopeds. In my opinion they should be required to have a full licence at least & anyone delivering commercially should require those CPC tickets that the larger vehicle drivers need these days.

Driving without insurance, driving without MOT, driving under the influence of drink, driving under the influence of drugs, exceeding the speed limit, driving without a license, driving whilst banned, jumping red lights, driving the wrong way down one way streets, parking on the pavement
But cyclists............

Yes cyclists are the real problem on our roads.

It's bad enough being on a bike when you are cycling properly and having to yield because of large moving chunks of metal. No point in being right but dead!

As for the video I suspect they are trying to remove themselves from the gene-pool for the benefit of mankind. It's not so easy for metal box drivers. much more passive safety systems for them and their attempt to remove themselves can end in taking down those who wish to be here.

Just assume the majority of people you come across who you don't know are numpties and take appropriate action to keep clear!

As for self-centred morons, look to your own profession. I've been run off quiet roads twice by said morons shouting that I shouldn't be on the r
As I said not all wagon drivers are angels and you have to agree the same applies cyclists, what you are obviously unaware of (as your little trolling dig I have removed proved) is how limited visibility in these vehicles why would any cyclist risk getting themselves crushed by undertaking a truck turning left like the ones seen in the video in the OP.

Because no car driver or motorcyclist ever jumped a red light?
Now who is trolling, the thread no one has said any group of motorists are perfect we are all human and we all make mistakes why are you taking this so personal you may observe all the rules of the road and be a polite cyclist unfortunately as the video shows there are a lot who do not,

So you think all cyclists are squeaky clean and all motorists are the devils spawn, are you saying no cyclist has ever cycled having had a beer or two or the day after they have had a joint, they have never broke the speed limit or any rules of the road.

It would appear you think all wagon drivers are the same and you have given a few examples of bad ones how many tens of thousands have passed you without cutting you up or having a go at you do not tar us all with the same brush,

There you go you see, you have taken offence as soon as someone has a dig at lorry drivers so perhaps you can empathise with my point a little?
I am fully aware that most wagon drivers are just great and some are not so great, but as soon as someone mentions bad cycling out comes the generalisations. Cyclists jump red lights, don't pay road tax, ride 3 abreast blah blah blah.

The point being if a cyclist jumps a red light then instantly in some quarters 'Cyclists' jump red lights, wrong an ***** on a bike broke the law, don't tarnish us all with the same brush, if I saw a wagon driver jump a red light I would not say 'Wagon drivers' jump red lights it would be 'That ***** jumped a red light'.

Road tax: How many times do I hear that cyclists don't pay road tax? Well no they don't, there is no such tax for a start the roads are paid for out of general taxation so I probably pay as much as most. Also most cyclists also own a car.

I won't even go into the general abuse a cyclist has to put up with from morons in cars and vans for no reason other than being there.

So it was trolling then?
This video shows what the editor wanted it to show, and as I have said there are plenty of idiots on bikes but that should not be used to bash cyclists in general.

Just looked at some of these videos, above. The presumption seems to be that if there's an inconvenience (rather than a breaking of the law) then it's the cyclist's fault. In fact mixing motorised traffic with non-motorised is dangerous. Motorists seem to be conditioned to grudgingly tolerate two-wheelers at best. Much is made of passing on the left so why are vehicles with blndpspots not fitted with rear-view cameras, so there are no blind spots? They're not expensive. Some would prefer that vehicles overtake against oncoming traffic rather than pass on the left. A couple of solutions here: Get rid of motorised traffic from congested town centres: A two hour delivery slot early in the morning would suffice. Less pollution, less noise, fewer deaths. More cycling. Also. Don't allow anyone to have more than a provisional licence for a motorised vehicle unless they can show that they have spent so many hours cycling in light to congested traffic.
We need to radically rethink traffic and begin to learn that pedestrians and cyclists have at least, if not more, right to the roads than than drivers of motorised vehicles.
The motoring and oil lobbies have infinitely greater sway, so it's not likely to happen anytime soon. In the meantime, look out for cyclists, lycra isn't the same as the metal armour you're wearing.

Much better...

The thing is there's very little accountability and enforcement of standards, no license points or fines etc to encourage better riding. The risk of injury doesn't seem enough of an incentive to some apparently.

The thing is the penalties for illegal driving are too low to have any effect, the risk of a paltry fine for mobile phone use doesn't seem enough of an incentive to some apparently.
Pleading 'Exceptional hardship' gets you off a ban in many cases.

Drivers who are drunk and kill and sometimes the police don't even prosecute. Family of cyclist killed in crash share 'pain of no justice' as case ends

Anyway, I'm out of here I come here to discuss brewing and not much else but got sucked into this one.
