Did a brewery tour yesterday and they brew a fantastic rye ipa -rust bucket by kinnegar and they only use 20% rye in it. Lots of crystal to get the colour apparently.
I also seen this stuff in the malt room but it’s not in their rustbucket.

What happened - anything for the rest of us to look out for?
Nothing to do with the rye really. The main issue was the false bottom came loose on the GF so the pump stopped working and I ended up with green sludge in my fermenter. Not good. Very very very long mash!

What I would advise though is turning your grain to water ratio up a little bit if you're using rice hulls.

My missing ingredients are on their way from GEB. Hoping they arrive for a Saturday brew day as No.2 son will still be at home from uni and he really enjoyed doing the NZ Pils last week.
After explaining the style and the jeopardy with the high Rye content and the multi-step mash that includes a decoction, he announced that we‘re calling it ‘Rye Hard with a Vengence”. After coming up with ”The Pilsner of Azkaban“ last week, I think I know where his role in the outfit lies😁

Rye grain delivered today, with some yeast. Picked up a sack of MO pale at a bargain price of £24 so all set (I think!!). Just need to think of a name now for it. Maybe John's Ryvenge🤣🤣
Where did you get you MO. For £24 from if you don't mind me asking
