Got ’er brewed today, write up below. The protein rest and rice hulls meant the sparge went ok. It’s a murky beggar but apparently thats normal at this stage, then they clear really quickly. Fingers crossed🤞

That's a large % of rye, I think the most I went is 2kg. Is that the first time using the yeast.

I'm re-doing the Rye beer today (using bottled water so I can keep my water consistent). I'm trying to get it perfect as I think I will send this one into the NHC.

Everything is going perfectly so far (famous last words).

My last one looked like that but it all settled out and it tastes really good. It's all bottled now.

Things that I changed from the last one and it made it better:-

Put 100g of rice hulls in the bottom of the mash tun and 100g when I had half the grain in. (I didn't use enough last time I think).
Changed my water to grain ratio from 2.5 to 3.
Made sure my grain crush was right. It was perhaps a bit fine last time.

I've discovered that blowing air down the recirculation pipe works a treat if the GF stops pumping.

Brew day complete. No disasters and hit all my target numbers so now over to the yeast to do its thing.

I didn't use rice hulls in my mash (which included 15% rye) and had no issues with a stuck mash after doing a 20 minute protein rest at 45degC. However, I did notice that it was recirculating and sparging slower than normal so if I brewed again I'd probably throw some rice hulls in just to be on the safe side.
 
Brewed my Rye IPA today as well. As doing full volume BIAB I didn't worry about a stuck mash, so left rice hulls out of this. Apart from the weather, all went well. Infact I seem to be a couple of points over my SG target fir once! Just cleaned my boiler and found some scorching on the bottom. Bit more work to do!! Will post my recipe in my brew thread later👍 Had a lovely drop in my trial jar to sip on. Tasting very nice at this stage.
