In Lidl today and they have Exercise Mats on sale for (I think) £5.99.

It makes great insulation for an FV or even a boiler.

I bought the Aldi equivalent last year to go around my Grainfather. When it got close to the boil it started to stick to the metal, so I panicked and took it off. Do they melt? And can they be easily removed if so?

They melt in extreme heat and the sticky black bits sure as hell aren't easy to remove. (It took me a knife, chisel, stainless steel wool and patience!)

I discovered this when I used my jacketed Boiler on a new Paella Burner that has a ring at the very edge of the pot! After it had melted the jacket, I decided to remove it from the Boiler because at 7.5kW the new burner made it unnecessary.

I included the photograph because, without melting, it had served its purpose for many months with a smaller burner by decreasing the time it took to raise the wort to the boil and resulted in a better rolling boil.
