Hello all, I came across this thread http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14965 for Raspberryade (so I put two demijohns on last night, and it's bubbling away nicely).

I was wondering if you could add this syrup to a beer kit to make a Framboise style beer?

Any suggestions which beer kit I should add it to, and when?

I was wondering if maybe one of the belgian beers from Brupaks?

Any help / advice greatly appreciated.

you probably could add to a beer kit but i dont know how much of it you would add. it is a very syrupy concentrated mix so i dont know whether you would need the full bottle. with the milestone raspberry wheat beer kit ot only comes with a small flavouring sachet. i wpuld try on a coopers lager or draught, using half the bottle as a starter

I do and elderberry stout which is basically a stout with of the juice from 1lb of fruit per gallon of beer. This seems to be the recommended amount of fresh fruit from my research on the internet, but as abeyptfc says you don't know how concentrated it will be. It may be worth adding some to a pint of your beer in controlled amounts ie 10ml at a time until you get the desired taste and then multiplying it up when you know how much you need in a pint. I would guess that you won't need much at all. I may be wrong but is better to air on the side of caution than just tipping it all in.

Its called Elizium Dead But Dreaming as it is about 9%. Basically I did 2 gallons of it using the wort from an effin oatmeal stout batch (og 1052) but I bumped up the OG to about 1085 I think I added 500g of demerara sugar. I crushed the elderberries and strained the juice out and boiled with the sugar. This was then added to the wort. I could have added it into the kettle 10 mins from the end but as I was only doing a small batch I didn't. I have read that perhaps it is better putting the juice in the secondary fv.

Elderberries beer or Ebulum was said to have been introduced to the Celts in Scotland and would be drunk on the winter solstice. Unfortunately I think it needs longer maturation from when you brew in the autumn to mid winter. I will be doing about 40l this year and keep it back for a year. I have got four little bottles which should see me through this years winter solstice

Anyway it makes a cracking stout. :drunk: :drunk:

I would have sent you one but I have only got 4 little bottles left and you ain't 'aving one of them little Feckers.
