Didn't feel over primed. How much of the gas did you turn? Hard to judge how much is going in. I heard a sound of gas but I can't believe it run out after 3 pints

Sounds like your rubber bung isnt sealing right and gas maybe escaping, i always use a tiny amount of a lubricant when i install the bung and grab it and turn it a bit to make sure its sealing ok

I have been turning it until I can't hear the gas going in anymore, but I'm still experimenting and it's a bit too much.

Can you still hear gas going in? If no and it's not pouring, then there's your problem - it must have ran out as mentioned above.

There has been some discussions on here and another thread about how to store these after use. I store with a little diluted star san. What do others do?

I store after cleaning with the dust cap provided. Then I sterilize again just before re-filling using boiling water (can't do that with glass!)

Nipped into Tesco in Bury St Edmunds today and picked up 5l keg of St Peter's Best Bitter for £15. They had OSH, GSH, Warsteiner and a couple of others I think (none more than £17). Pretty good value once you take off the fiver for an easy keg. The St Peter's one has the black/ red bung that can be hacked into for a party star tap, and then replaced with the grey ones. :thumb:

Yes. Then no need to worry about corrosion. But I make sure it is dry inside by turning it upside down on a tea towel. You could even put it in an oven I guess if you were worried about contamination or internal dampness. I have not done that but why not?

I wouldn't as you might melt the integral tap - unless it's a mini keg rather than an easy keg which doesn't have one

I have starsan'd one of the kegs and it was ok. May leave the next one without and compare. How long do you think beer keeps in the kegs.

How do you mean? How long can you keep an unopen keg? Well I will be finding out next week as I'm going to be opening a keg that I've had for 2 months (1month of that lagering in the fridge)

After washing my easy kegs I leave them with a blast of star san in and cover the top opening with a strip of tape.

No idea how long beer lasts before opening, as none of mine have gone more than three weeks past being ready to drink. :drink:

Is there any reason why they won't last as long as bottles? I hope they do as I'm filling them up quickly!

No. Just wanted to be sure. I just wanted to make sure the ones I have been filling will be ok in the summer. I have seen some from a craft brewery that has a short drink by date.

Yeah, I have a mini keg made from stainless steel with a top hole. Only £7.44. They stack too, empty or full. You can store huge amounts in a small space. The flow is beautiful.
