They probably did it to stop people running off with their recycling ;)

I had an email back from Klarstein about their mini keg tap/cooling system.

Hello Jack,

thank you for the prompt reply, would you be able to offer any discount on
the dispenser if there was enough interest from our members?

Chug

If you ordered a bulk order of 15+ units, we could do a B2B order.

However, we would require a registered business address.

Alternatively,

We would be happy to set up a VAT free account if provided with the following details BEFORE the order is placed:

- A Valid VAT number
- Confirmation of the full registered company billing address, and the name of the proprietor
- The type of business (PLC, LTD etc)

Once we have this information we would be more than happy to get this set up, and we would look forward to sending a purchase order form!

Please note, we can only add this information before an order is placed with us and not after as we are unable to amend any invoices, by law.

Kind Regards

How did you manage that? I've emailed them twice and got absolutely zero response!

Thought I'd share this for anyone, like me, who can't fit their mini kegs in the fridge.

I have one of those padded cool bags, which turned on it's end, fits a mini keg with party star tap perfectly. I put 4 x freezer ice blocks and the (room temp) keg in the bag before work this morning and when I got home I had a nicely chilled beer. The blocks weren't even half defrosted, so will work in the summer too hopefully.

EDIT - this actually worked too well for my tastes and dulled the flavour of the beer. Would have been a good temp for lager. Will experiment with less blocks!

Tapped my first mini keg of Coopers English Bitter this evening with a party star deluxe. Been in the keg for 2 months and I am very impressed with results and shall be looking to buy more mini kegs. :-)

I put two carbonation drops per keg and find that is plenty. The extra co2 from the bulb gives enough extra pressure and head and the tap is adjustable for more pressure. By the way, the home brew shop is outstanding for price and packaging and speed and I get all my stuff from them.

Wow what a monster thread
I'll certainly be on the lookout at the recycling points, and look for the offers of full ones when they come up. I'd never thought of refilling them!

Regarding the type that cannot be refilled. Is this because the bung hole is larger? If so, would it be possible to mould some bungs the right size for these awkward types? (3d printer or machine a mould and use silicone rubber or polyurethane).

If you are going to use them again within a month then storing with a bit of starsan would seem ideal, otherwise I would dry them in the airing cupboard or next to a hot radiator with a wad of kitchen roll in the hole. This worked well for my old glass demijohns.

You would need a food grade silicone like Dragon skin from smooth-on but I don't think is has a high enough shore rating.

SLA printing wouldn't be strong enough to withstand the pressure.

I opened a MK that I primed at 4g/L or 20g per keg earlier. This is the first time I've primed at that level. Previously I'veprimed my MK's at lower levels. I didn't chill the keg and just used the intergral tap. I must say the beer is much fizzier than a bottle primed at 4g/L. I had quite a head on the first glass I poured and had to let it settle for a short while before topping up. Having said that I didn't just get a glass full of foam as it settled down quite quickly . I think I will continue priming my MK's at this level

To answe my own question. Would have picked one up if they were in stock. They had the festive beer in cans

Hi all . I originally posted this in the 'how to' thread but hopefully someone will see it here and be able to help...

"Great thread, thanks for the advice and step by step guide. I'm really keen to get some mini kegs and the party star now!

Couple of questions:

- Doesnt the vasaline get into the beer if your putting it on the red tap and bung?

- have you ever dry hopped in the mini kegs? If so does the party star still work ok?

- how long does the beer last once you've tapped into the keg?

- what temp do you store the unopened kegs at?

- how do you know how much to prime with? (I guess this applies to bottles too? I plan to make a recipe out of Brew dog DIY (elvis juice v2) how much sugar do I use and doesn't it impact the sweetness?

Thanks"

I have mistakenly batch primed my fv at 6g per litre and then transfered to an easy keg,it turned out fine,as yours, first pint was very lively but after that WOW,so,so good.
These things work great with hoppy ales.
Its the way forward for me. ;)
