Silly Question - FV to Bottles

I bottle directly from the tap ish. I sanitise a bucket with a tap on and run the star san out through the tap then transfer from the secondary FV to the bottling bucket, attach a length of silicone pipe to the tap with the bottle wand on the other end and off I go. I batch prime in the...

What size gas bottle for BIAB?

I used a 5kg to run the burner with a full 5kg bottle on the shelf for a backup. I made 40L batches, I think i got 4 brews out of one bottle (it might have been more though).

    How long is sterile?

I read it on some US based forums, my mate whose garage we were brewing in didn't want to waste the water, until recently i had to get it shipped in from the UK or states. now i am about to start brewing in my own house I wont be reusing it.

    How long is sterile?

the good thing about star san is you can reuse it so long as its PH is below 3. once it starts to look off i make a fresh batch.

    BIAB question

i was trying to be clever and do a kind of step mash but the 1300w boiler i had couldnt make the temp jump so I put the burner on, I think the pump i was using to circulate the wort between the kettle and boiler/hlt sucked the bag onto the bottom of the kettle.

    Shed base

whichever route you take put plastic down underneath otherwise damp will come up through the floor. I remember as a kid my dad left a drum or tar in the barn on a floor without a waterproof membrane underneath, when he went to lift in the following year the top 98% of the barrel came with him...

    extract brewing.

seemed like a logical step between kits and AG. It lets you play with different yeasts and hops while someone else does the mashing but I agree its too expensive to do long term, I went to BIAB pretty quickly.

    extract brewing.

extract is a good step between kits and AG or BIAB, let someone else take care of the mashing step while you concentrate on the other new techniques you need to learn. It is expensive though, for the money I was spending on extract alone i can now brew a whole AG batch and if you spill that...

    BIAB question

I started by doing 2 or 3 kit brews to make sure my cleaning was up to par then I went on and did some extract ones and finally made it BIAB, I havent tried one of the recipes on this site but i did buy a clone book that gave the extract recipe as well as how to convert it to AG, I can look up...

Any brewers on here live in NL?

Hello, in case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future I managed to get hold of a qualified electrician at work today, he said dutch sockets usually have a 16A fuse and can run the BM50 so long as nothing else on the ring is pulling much power. He also said most houses have a...

Any brewers on here live in NL?

I think so, It looks like the sockets in my kitchen can deliver 16A but many of the others in my house could be either 10 or 16 looking at the link you sent me. Thanks.

Any brewers on here live in NL?

Hello, I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying a 50L Braumeister, does anyone know if the standard Dutch plug socket can handle the 16A requirement? Cheers Paddy
