I read different view points, not enjoyably, media is either left or right wing so I take no notice of either, what opinion would you like.
I don't understand that, you must base your view point on information you have sourced somewhere, may that be the news reports on TV, the papers or online. My understanding is you live in Australia, so you are not exactly on the front line to witness it. I am asking you to share that info so I can understand your view.

Is that also regardless of the Guardians political view point, it doesn't go without notice the democratic socialist countries who have also been caught with their pants down don't get a mention.
Firstly; What has socialism got to do with anything

Of these nations, the countries that have a socialist party that serves as a governing party are:

Above is a quick search of countries with left wing parties governing.

From the top of my head the Guardian has covered Northern Ireland & Portugal during the current outbreak.

I imagine Foxy sources his news from Fox News primarily (hence the name).

Or the Australian equivalent;
Wombat News, Platypus Weekly, Dingo Times, Roo News.

Some kind of Murdoch news source.

What has conservatism got to do with anything, as quoted in the article posted the Guardian is only pointing out the conservative countries which have got things wrong, almost every country, got wrong footed in this crisis. Nothing to do with their political agenda.

I don't follow what you don't understand, do you only take in one newspaper, the Guardian as the one and only news source? Read up on the different governments reports from around the world and make your own view. Cherry picking is easy, I could probably put out quotes from the Express which have an entirely opposite view to the Guardian. But I wouldn't.
The view I take is the virus is here, we are in it, it is going to claim far more lives as we start to move into the community immunity stage. Trying to put the blame onto others is a weakness, positive thinking, not negative is what gets people through life's adversities

In all fairness you are the only poster randomly sticking in Socialism and all it evils.
It's worse than watching an old 1950's american news reel.

You're getting as bad as gunge with global warming.

So what is socialism or democratic socialism as the labour party prefers?

Appears you don't know your political parties to well, would you prefer me to call them the labour party, socialist is so much easier.

The express, thanks I will give it a read.
Let me know of any others
I wouldn't bother, as I wouldn't bother reading the Guardian, as I said, in the media you have left and right. I wouldn't expect you to take any more notice of something the Express has to say than I would the Guardian.

If that's the case who do you believe then and that was the point of my question, it's very easy to shoot down information as being bias or inaccurate.
You are of the opinion that the government seem to be doing well I was only looking for information to read up on myself to see where you base that opinion on. Figure's don't seem to back up that claim or first hand accounts of people working on the front line.

Nope, I'm pretty aware of the UK political parties.

Just not sure what you are on about tbh.

The government are doing as well as can be expected, in the UK and Australia. Put yourself in the shoes of the government. A virus has emerged in China, will it burn itself out as SARS did? One of those situations, surely it can't can't run amok over here (It'l never happen to me kind of moments) The world got caught out, the situation is, now, can we ride it out and protect the economy. No one knows. Brazil and Sweden go for herd immunity, I am sure that was in the mind of the UK, America, Australia and some other countries. Turns out that the virus is so contagious that it inflicts pressure on the health systems. Different strategy, lock down ease the pressure on the health systems get the flat line then start the community immunity in stages. The economies of all countries is now rooted, even when this is all over there is going to be more misery and death due to the rooted economies. More than likely more deaths than the virus itself. So it was a tough call for the governments of each country to make.

Well I'm afraid I can't help you if you don't know what the Labour party stands for, whether it be Democratic socialism Corbyn style, or Socialist democracy Blair style.
I will add while they say they are the champions of the working class Corbyn is worth 3 million GBP and Blair 60 million GBP. Lifes good when your top of the heap. 'All animals are equal some are more equal than others' Animal Farm.

I think the thing we should remember is this virus will not take into account your political leanings but this thread is how the tory government are managing the situation and while as a whole I would say badly there are a few things they have done well on. I normally only read brewing related posts and only got involved with this one because as I mentioned previously I have family members on the front line without suitable protection and I genuinely fear for their safety. I spoke to my Sister over the weekend and she feels she is struggling to do her job and feels she has been sh!t on by the government she voted for and is been constantly lied too as a few weeks ago they told them there is plenty of equipment available which never materialised and now they are relying on it coming from Turkey. Her managers have told them don't expect any improvement soon no matter what the government says.

Pretty aware of the Labour party, Irish news covers alot of UK politics and we get BBC, Channel 4, Sky & ITV over here.

Anyway what has the Labour party got to do with anything.
They haven't been in power for a decade?????????

it gives people a chance to go 'yeah, well. Labour couldn't do any better'

It is to Labour and Keir Starmer's credit that they have been positively engaging rather than point scoring,
there seems to be a political concensus to trying and govern effectively as a parliament for a change.

Quite apart from the fact that the tories have a stonking majority and are just at the start of their term.
so playing the blame game at this point is both pointless and premature given how long it's going to take for this whole saga to play out.

That said, an effective opposition which I think the new Labour leader can pull together, is a welcome prospect for the future.

I certainly hope so. Can't wait for Parliament to start sitting again, I just hope that constructive collaboration doesn't amount to an emasculated opposition.
