My general brewing list seems to have grown and grown this year and now I've no idea what to ask for from Santa...

I currently need to source, purchase and assemble the parts for stage 1 of my brewing control panel (initially just to run the HLT and Boiler with PIDs but will have the space for a HERMS upgrade in the future).
That'll let me sell my existing 2x 40l Buffalo setup and starting using the 56l pots I've sat in the corner of the garage!
Than once that cash is in the bank... who knows?!

Yes, I've been following that thread closely and am definitely going to give it a try. The only drawback is that you can't backfill with CO2 but I'm sure I can empty one over a weekend before it spoils.:drink:

You can get one of those C02 rigs like stevej posted a piccy of if you want to top up with C02.

From what others have been saying I think they can last quite a number of days from just cask conditioning

Thanks for this :thumb:

Been looking at vacuum packers after having a bad experience with the cheap Asda hoover vacuum bags - they're beyond rubbish!

Don't mind paying good money but it absolutely has to do a good job.

I'd love some more information on this but don't want to hijack the thread and risk getting a light saber over my napper :-o

Could you possibly PM me some more info on what you do, or good blogs, web sites links etc.? Thanks :hat:

I'm still fairly early stages, but the best advice I can give you is to buy a good book and follow recipes closely before experimenting as if it goes wrong there is potential to make yourself (and others) quite ill. As with brewing there's a risk of building up quite a library but this is a good starter -

If you're cold smoking I'd suggest one of these, I just use it in my kettle bbq.

Possibly a thread hijack, but hopefully relevent for Christmas ideas....

Dont worry about hijacking, thats an interesting idea and I really fancy one of those cold smoking devices myself. I grow lots of chillies in the garden and would like to try smoking some (chipotle style) so this would be great for a present for me too!
