48F8F19B-C282-4702-8834-9CF1C613BAEB.jpeg I bought this and was looking forward to brewing it, instructions say it comes supplied with hop pellets, I opened the lid and found a mighty 10 grams, yes TEN grams of Amarillo.
Let’s hope to God it has been triple hopped beforehand, now, off to Crossmyloof to order 100g

keep us updated as to how yours goes. i brewed this about a month ago and have found it to be thin and lifeless :( i added 50g fresh Citra hops too as i was worried about the 10g Amarillo.
I have bottled all of mine and hoping it gets better with age.

Just been given one of these, as I have not done a kit for awhile waste not want not, no sugar going in, 500g dme and 800ml golden syrup yeast us-05 and a good dry hop with citra me thinks acheers.

After posting on another thread about adding flavour hops after flame out, has anyone tried this with kits? I’m thinking when the wort is still warm (around 80c), so before topping up with cold water, a bag of hops could be steeped for 15 minutes or so.

Adding hops in this way for all grain beers has resulted in my tastiest hoppy beers so far.

With a kit like this the wort never gets close to 80C.
You could heat a small amount of the diluted wort to do a hop steep, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t just make a hop tea and put that into the wort.

I’ve not made a kit for ages but I was thinking it might be close to 80c after rinsing the can out with just boiled water a couple of times. I did add hop teas to kits a couple of times at bottling but was wondering if the early steep would make a difference. The other thread just got me thinking about whether it would work with kits but did think there must be a reason why it hadn’t been discussed before!

Ah, I see. You’d steep the hops in the wort before you dilute it to fermenting volume.
That would work, but you’d need to have a way of taking the hops out again. Can’t strain if you’ve already poured into the FV, so use a mesh bag?

That is what I was thinking, with the hops in a bag for easy removal. No idea if it would actually give any benefit though!

Hi all, made a batch of this with some mango purée added at the beginning. Seems to have worked well but I was expecting fermentation to take longer than it has. I checked this morning and the OG is 1006/8, which means it’s ready for bottling. I have no bottles or caps to put it in though (some on order coming this week). I’m new to brewing and am not sure if it’s ok to leave it or will it over ferment? If that’s a thing. Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No just leave it but don't keep opening the lid, most on here leave them for 2 weeks to ferment and let the yeast clean up then keg or bottle then 2 weeks in a warm place to carb up then 2 weeks to condition

Great stuff,
I’ll just leave it til next weekend then get it bottled. It’ll give me time to get all the labels off the old bottles etc. Thanks a lot for the advice mate 👍🏻 Much appreciated! Cheers.
