Hi @AnAnkou Thanks for your comments, it makes me interested in reading around the forum.

My simplistic view...even though there's "the bridge" etc there's some subjects that just do not mix with drink...everyone's a genius after six pints...and correct...
As for pleasing everyone...you can only some of the time.
I'm not knocking your questions Steve just trying to stir up some response and opinions.
I'm quite happy with it all...I do avoid a few non brewing subjects.
For me the forum has been a slice of near normality in a complete shitstorm...

Thank you very much @Clint for your comments. It's good to hear a balance of comments.

I've only been a member for a few years but shortly after joining I became a supporting member as I wanted to contribute towards the forum for the help and advice I received in such a short space of time and could quite easily have stopped supporting at anytime as I had got over my biggest hurdle of restarting and getting the basics in order but I know it takes money to run, administrate, update and everything else that goes on in the background.
I have found some fantastic people whom I've never met offering advice and help not just to me but to anyone who needed it and some absolute asqholes usually when drunk but others when sober but all in all very warm, friendly and welcoming.
I welcome the snug and off the record where you can blow off steam but there is a line to be drawn and if you can't respect yourself you can be sure that you won't respect anyone else and in that case there is a need for auditing though sometimes it can be a bit harsh and could maybe have been dealt with differently but this is all in reflection and hindsight and the way forward could be looked at in relation to threads, conversations etc.
I'm quite happy to stay and have no qualms with being a member of another forum as this just shows how diverse each can be because if each has members with knowledge be it applied in as different manor.
One thing that is annoying is the counting of likes on a score card as it looks like a popularity contest but for new members flags these give the impression they are intuitive people which may or may not be the case but I'm sure it's part of some algorithm for something.
Well that's my tuppence worth and I'm sober.

@Gerryjo I really appreciate reading your thoughts and thank you. One thing, the Reaction Score/like is really just a fun thing. I have nothing set to make something happen if X number of points is reached. It's just a feature many people like in this day and age. So no one has to give them any more value than anything else.

We should at least get a medal or a certificate...like that lot out The Wizard of Oz..
:D
I got a medal ( self awarded)...
Mrs Clint said I deserve a trophy as well seeing as I'm always on here talking rubbish!

Steve is spot on, look at reviews for this site last time I looked is was rated 9th out of 10. Yes it gets a lot of hits, why because of the posts in the snug, deliberately put there which have nothing at all to do with brewing, solely to get more traffic. Like Steve I go on other brewing sites to talk brewing, this is more of a social site. Aussie Home Brewer used to be a good site but that is in decline now.

Do people think it's a bad thing having a social side to the site??
After all it seems the non brewing stuff I like...cooking,gardening get loads of comments etc off loads of people...
It'd be like being in work and talking about work all day...you gotta mix it up.
Just my 2p worth..

I learned every thing i know about brewing on this forum and i thank the members who helped me, i also learned you can't say what you want when pissed, i think Gerryjo used the correct term respect, also i think there are enough tools on here to help you weed out people you do not want engage with, overall i would say it's a great forum for folks who want to brew ale but if you want to engage in other stuff there are places as well so feel free, happy brewing acheers.

This is the status by month from July 2018. The site is still growing and doing something right. I only pulled post and active members for this.

And I do know we cannot be everything to everyone. But hopefully we can be most things to many folks/brewers or the people that just want to kick back after work and enjoy some time with their buddies. And you don't even have to wear a mask here (small joke folks).

I am still listening. And trying to hear what you are saying then I can get a forum temperature and maybe even have a new idea or two.

@Rodcx500z You may be exactly right. I know my online buying has gone up. And forums for fun also.

That spike would be about all the covid posts, followed by all the Brexit posts, Trump posts. It won't be because of brewing posts, yes as Rod says there was a jump in home brewing because of lock down, but not enough to cause the spike. Unfortunately not about discussions on home brewing.

I only noticed mine had gone when the positive & negative brexit posts were moved. I assume they are behind a members only wall?
I never noticed mine had gone, or if I got it, I was AWOL for a while, frequenting other forums to learn about brewing.wink...

Where does one see forum ranking charts. Is there a weekly chart show.
