I have a 14 year old Cocker spaniel, who is old mostly blind had a bit of a stroke last year but happy enough..

Like Chippy I think when he finally leaves us (I will be devastated) I don't think we will get another dog, now with two kids and Wife working more and more hours due to understaffing on her ward it seems less of a good idea.. will probably end up with a cat at some point..

A few years ago we had seven cats who were all the same age (17) give or take a year. When one died the others followed in very quick succession. It was a truly horrendous time as pet owners will full well know. No more cats = no more heartache we said, but here we are with four of the buggers. They just turn up and we can't help but welcome them. Next thing they've got their feet under the table and off to the vets for vaccines / neutering if necessary etc, and they're ours.

Once over i wouldn't let a cat in the house i hated the things and always thought they only came home to eat and had no interest in their owners, having had one for several years i must admit i got it wrong its a proper lap cat and it hates going out but out it goes at night (cat flap in the shed door) i know this has been discussed before but in my book animals do not belong in bedrooms.

There's a tiger in ours if I'm there... ask the missus. But seriously - I find it easier to get to sleep if there's a moggy on the bed!

In the house - quite a few fish: 2 tench, 1 brown goldfish, 1 comet goldfish, 1 loach, 8 dannios, all divided between 2 fishtanks. Plus a 3 foot long cornsnake in another tank.

In the yard - down to 4 effing useless cats judging by the number of rats we have running around the place.

in the fields - 43 adult sheep plus 73 young uns. I'd class them as pets as they cost a fortune to keep and we make sod all out of them. Plus a couple of horses.

I love the millipede! I've never seen one like that, but man it would be cool to have one. But no way, hubby would freak. He hates creepy crawlies!

We have two guinea pigs, a flock of chickens and tankful of fish. We spoil them all rotten. We'd both love a dog, but we're both so busy, so we've nixed it for now, as it's not fair.

Lab x Staffy (world's most stoooopid dog)
Half a dozen chickens (Buff Orpington x Light Sussex)
Parrot (Grey thing that shouts a lot.)
Tropical fish tank (Various)

In the past, we have kept Scorpions, Giant Snails, Hamsters, many tropical fish (piranhas being my favourite.), never been without a dog or three.

Never had a cat (horrible sly feckers!!!)

Its weird having it on your arm its legs grip really tight and i guess if it didn't want to leave your arm you would struggle to get it off without hurting it, they do secrete a nasty acid substance which discolours the skin and stinks if they think they are being attacked my sons has never done this but i have seen the mark it leaves on an owners skin best keep it happy. :lol:

Meanwhile have y'all heard the news about sentences for animal cruelty being raised from an average of six months to five years? About bloody time but I'd give anyone who goes out of their way to inflict pain and misery on animals a life term. Sorry if a thread has already been started on that... I'm extremely tired.

I've got two cats called Cleo and Martha. Martha was a kitten when we visited the rescue centre and we naively melted. Seven years later and we've had to clear a present up of the living room floor every day for most of them and I still wouldn't want to not have her. They don't get as much attention as they used to since we've had our kids but still nice to have them. Our two year old loves them too. We just spent a week with my mother in law who has two cockerpoos and both kids were absolutely wild for them!
