Brewing my first stout in a long time. So after looking at @Hazelwood Brewery recipe and what I had in stock this is what I ended up with

3.8 kg Maris
500g oat malt
200g dark crystal
200g chocolate rye
200g cafe light
250g aromatic malt
250g roasted barley added at mash out

20g Magnum FWH
Yeast is CML Beoir

I can't take my eye of this 😁

You can skim the hot-break to reduce the risk of boil-over. Good luck!

46.7% Wheat Malt
46.7% Munich III
5% Carawheat
1.6% Carafa 3
Tettnang to 13 IBU
Lallemand Munich Yeast

Aiming for an OG of 1053 and a final ABV of 5.2%

Just hitting the boil now

Just hitting the boil now

1053 spot on and 11.5L in the FV as planned. Brew in the fridge to cool last few degrees down to pitch temperature.
 
Today I brewed a English Porter just a corny kegs worth!

Normal service resumed with regards to the all grain brewing, keg full of ESB conditioning and this will be in the keg next saturday.
just in time for Halloween and the official opening of my spare bedroom gothic style bar room. images to follow sometime in october.
 
I'm having a go at @Nicks90s AG78. It won't be the first beer I've cribbed from him. and all the others turned out great, so here's hoping!

I'm noticing that the 25 kg sack of malt I bought what seems like five minutes ago from my friendly local brewery is getting very near its end; another shopping trip will be called for soon.
 
Bottled my Gotland style no boil beer today, final gravity came in at 1.000 for a 6.3% ABV. Definitely a unique, smoky taste but all in all quite drinkable at this point
 
Bit late posting, but did a couple of stovetop brews at the weekend based on GH mild and ruby mild recipes. Everything went really smoothly, considering they were my first brews since spring. Thoroughly enjoyed the morning spent brewing!
 
Brewing a bitter today. Again one of Hazelwood's, but going back a bit in time. I was searching for a bitter recipe with flaked barley it, and found this one. (For reference, it's the one on page 75 of H's Brewday thread).

Like a few, I guess, back in the day I used S-04 regularly until I started reading here about how awful it is! :D

So I have a fair few packets in the cupboard. The yeast suggested for this was Liberty Bell. Well, I have some of that, too, so I reckon I'll split the batch and try half a packet of each. Then I can do a comparison and see if I really prefer a non-S-04 yeast or not.
