Maris Otter, bittered with EKG at 60 mins then Centennial at various times! Drank gin and tonic throughout.😁🍻🍻
Was supposed to be a 10 litre brew but only ended up with 8 and an OG of 1.062, so added 2 litres of cooled pre boiled water.
Had a nightmare straining the wort into the FV and the whole lot went in.
Plenty of trub in the bottom this morning!

I read your post earlier were you said electric is 50p a unit were you are, i reckon my 35L brewzilla is on for 2 hours tops so it would cost 2 quid at most obviously it depends how often you brew

Bottling today. Using up some cararye with Challenger and Bramling X hops. Sample from the fermenter tasted very promising - a good balance of hops and malts.

Original recipe was posted by bconnery on the Aussie Homebrew Forum, my version being, for a batch of 12 x 500ml bottles (plus the one 330ml bottle in the picture):
1266g Maris Otter
290g Cara Rye
90g Amber
60g Crystal
50g Choc

13g BX + 7g Challenger at start of a 60 mins boil.
12g BX + 8g Challenger at 5 mins from end

S04 Yeast. OG 1045, FG 1011

First time I've used my new brew bag, imported at some expense from the US!

After five weeks in the bottle this is one of my best brews yet. I'm now appreciating the S04 yeast which leaves a little sweetness making for a better balanced beer. The small amount of choc malt comes through, and I'd like to think a hint of spice from the rye. Good bitterness from the hops but the malts dominate and so the distinctive flavours are lost - the beer is a lot darker than I expected (still a lot to learn). I'm working on my beer photography ...

After my summer break from fermenting, I'll try a pale ale with the last of my BX and see how much of the flavour I can bring through. The wise folk at Mallinsons get theirs tasting like Ribena!

Just got to my keg of pseudo märzen that's been sitting for a few months, found it's gravity has dropped 15 points and I've got a load of foam

Batch of Irish stout currently on the go. I liked the last lot I made so much, I think I preferred it to the oatmeal stout that I had thought of previously as my favourite.

Now to see if I can replicate it! I ought to be able to.

I am getting to like theBZ brew number 3 today and it finally clicked why i am 1L short again using the pump, the nut on the drain hole so that will be sorted next brew on Sunday, so 20L instead of 21 but og was bang on 1051
