Run out of ready homebrew (careless, I know) so cracked open a 10% DIPA I found at Waitrose to accompany the footie.

Made with candi sugar. Tastes like a hoppy Belgian. Not bad. 10 hop varieties just silly.

Two weissbeers so far. Will I need my extra time beer?

2 pints pf punk ipa and a bengali in spoons... the punk whilst not a true reflection of its original lushness is a pretty solid session pint these days! - who'd have thunk it?

then at home 2 small gordons and an aubel triple - very nice find in belgium.

You’re idea of a session beer is clearly different to mine! I wouldn’t be drinking a 5.6% beer for 6 hours straight! If I’m on a session I try to stick to beers in the 4.5% ballpark.

Hey Clint, looks like our cat at the mo, horizontal  . anyhows, just had a pint of St Austel's HSD down the local, and going to get stuck into the Bank's mild I brewed. although I need to clear the decks of the Munton's Smugglers ale to make bottle space for my porter. 2nd attempt at the smugglers and second batch that has not cleared even though this batch was bottled 17th June. Think I'll give the kits a miss and stick with the AG recipes from now on!

Single hop Styrian Wolf ale by a local brewery. Been itching to taste this hop for ages as the flavour descriptors sound so nice.

I get quite intense bitter orange marmalade flavours. Liking it a lot. Challenger amped up maybe? One for the list to brew with for sure.

On hols in Argyll, drinking Stone IPA. Really enjoyable beer. Dank and piney. One of the few commercial IPAs I actually like. It has depth.

Having a mid afternoon sneaky preview bottle of my take on a tripel. First recipe i devised myself - using leftover extracts, ekg and saaz and Safbrew Abaye .Bottled 4 weeks ago and its been sat in temperatures far too high for conditioning but has dropped nice and clear. Needs to mellow a bit as the 8.5% seems evident, looking forward to trying it in another month. In the meantime though tastes ace.

I went on a tour of my local microbrewery (71 Brewing in Dundee) today. They have a nice little bottle shop and they managed to get in some bottles of the UK’s first ever Trappist beer. Here it is.

It didn’t have great head retention but kept a bit of lacing down the glass. Taste wise it’s pretty much a Belgian Dubbel, lots of raisin-like flavours with a well balanced bitter backbone.

Nice, solid beer. Not the most spectacular I’ve had but I enjoyed it.
