coopers 6 month old English bitter, quite nice.leaving them to mature is of a benefit.but this weekend I have been hitting my plentiful reserves of bottles as against the kegs

Put together a tasting session for my mates at the weekend. They all like beer, mainly lager or traditional cask ale from the pub, but didn't really know much about craft beer. Everyone chipped in a tenner and I chose the beer. This is what we had:

From left to right;
Howling Hops - Running Beer (hoppy brown)
Northern Monk - Eternal (session IPA)
Chorlton - Amarillo Sour (dry-hopped pale sour)
Cloudwater/Magic Rock - Three's Company (double IPA)
Buxton - Guatamalen Coffee Extra Porter
Buxton - BA Double Axe (barrel aged doule IPA)

We all had 1/3 pint of each beer (I had previously bought some 1/3 tasting glasses, which were perfect - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005EM84U2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) There were 5 of us, and 3x 330ml bottle divided into 5 1/3 pints pretty much exactly.

Went down a storm. Everyone enjoyed most beers, with one not liking the sour, and another not liking the Coffee Porter (he doesn't like coffee). Was really cool explaining the different beer styles and what makes them taste like they do. Can't wait to do it again.

The Wilco Hoppy Copper Bitter is finished! (Sob! Sob!) It was a lovely pint and got better as the week went on!

Tasted the Coopers hopped lager but it still needs more time so now started on the Woodfordes Wherry Bitter and the Fulstows Recession Session as "drinking".

Jamesons and Dry ginger at the minute! Moving onto my Irish Red Ale later :)

Cheers
Jay

just cracked open a "Golden stag". a bit young but excellent citrus taste...Nice one

Funny old day today; and a bit of a thirsty one as well.

Started with a glass of chilled Bourru (on Day 3 of fermentation) then wandered into the garage and nailed a bottle of Woodfordes Wherry and one of hopped Coopers Lager as I toddled about.

Work finished I came back into the house and noticed a bottle of Recession Session that has been sat in the kitchen for about a week so I opened it and "WOW!" Not a gusher but the flip-top rocketed up with a significant "whump". I think I got lucky opening it when I did and "Memo to Self - Never leave bottles of beer on the kitchen work-surfaces in summer!"

At the moment I am drinking my very first pint of Wilco's Pilsner with Chillies. I tasted it when it was bottled (just over a week ago) and at that time I couldn't taste any "chilli flavour". I only had one bottle (the rest is in MKs) so as it had cleared I thought I would give it a whirl.

I am now two-thirds down the pint and it has acquired a chilli flavour and a bit of heat as well. Both the flavour and the heat hit the inside of my lips, the sides of my tongue and the back of my throat. Not uncomfortably hot; but not really a great drink on a night as warm as tonight either!

I fancy that it will be a tremendous drink on a cold and windy night so the MKs will be put to one side until December.

Funny old day; but enjoyable! :thumb: :thumb:

A HBC mashkit american pale ale my brother has brewed, trying out my new growler. The beer is stunning, well up my street and the growler seems to be doing its job and its shiny :-)

Drinking Vodka and lemonade

Only as my first two brews are not quite ready yet :(
And the two brews I did last week need to be thrown away as I messed them up

Tonight I shall be mostly drinking.... everything.

Heading to Birmingham Beer Bash and the list is phenomenal - http://birminghambeerbash.co.uk/beers-listed-by-brewery

Last day of term yesterday, which meant early finish, lunch in the pub, taxi to Clink Beer in The Custard Factory and then the evening session at Birmingham Beer Bash. Much fine beer was quaffed:

Sadlers - Peaky Blinder (Black IPA) 4.6% 1/2
Sadlers - American Rye (Rye IPA) 5% 1/2
Sadlers - Hop Bomb (Hoppy Pale) 5% 1/2
To-0l - My Pils (Pilsner) 4% 2/3
Black Market - Cherry Sour (Sour) 3.8% 2/3
Northern Monk - Northern Star (Mocha Porter) 2/3
Hardknott - Granite 2013 (Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine) 14.4% 1/3
Quantum - Rowanberry Sour (Sour) 3.6% 1/3
Twisted Barrel - Saison From Another Place (Saison) 6.3% 1/3
Thornbridge - Bear State (American IPA) 7% 1/3
Twisted Barrel - Irreversible 8.5% (Double IPA)
Twisted Barrel - Oblivion (Export Indian Porter) 6.1% 1/3
Buxton - Bourbon Skyline (Bourbon Barrel Aged Sour) 7.2% 1/3

The Twisted Barrel Oblivion, Buxton Bourbon Skyline and Hardknott Barley Wine being the highlights of the festival.

Surprised at how many sour beers I'm having at the moment, never thought I'd take to them when I first tried them, but yeah, all over it now.

Grolsch. It's going to be a long, slow road but I do so want a full set of bottles. It's a good job there's nothing brown to distract me just yet.
