Got a couple of bottles of Shepherd Neame 1698, gonna drink them and then try and culture the yeast from them....

1st bottle went down way too quickly. Dizzy blonde by robinsons brewery. Nice bottle, really refreshing. Only 3.8% which is weak for my liking but meant it went down in 2 gulps lol

Will be interested to hear how yours progresses. I tried my version last night after 6 days (I can never wait very long), definitely needs more time and not as readily drinkable as my US style IPAs at a similar age.

Mines nice I am really pleased, think it will get much better too, I used wyeast London ale 3 and have a little dry hop of challenger and ekg.. The yeast character is there but is... Smooth??

Really promising.. Considering I cold crashed and it's only day 9 it's carbonated well

That head is pretty impressive! Mine's still only half carb'd. Used GV-12 for the first time, not got onto liquid yeast as yet. Think it will come good in a few weeks.

Following the weak ale route I tried a ruby rooster. I have always dismissed it as something not for my taste but whilst in lidl I was taken in by the new bottle design and the 90p price tag. But after drinking it I thought it was rubbish.

Now drinking my APA only 3 weeks in bottle .
Just had to try a bottle and it's a lot better than I thought. Some way off being perfect but time will improve the taste. Lovely smell and taste of citra and the right amount of carbonation for me. Like a lot of my brews there isn't much head.

Happy with the yeast then? Sweetness in the beer? Esters?

Yes so far very, not been a big user of the estery type but this is very smooth creamy and teh sweentness esters well it suits the style and East Kent Goldings which has that sort of sweetness. I dunno really I can probabaly attribute it being a solid recipe from Greg Hughes but the yeast I changed for whatever reason and it seems to be a hit

I actually plan to use the harvested yeast on your Brit hop receipe with Northdown and First Gold probably in the coming weeks so that should be interesting, and with the left over hops from the two recipes I was going to make a hybrid 10l batch (this time top cropping the pillow)

The yeast should work great with the Brit Hop recipe.

It could be the yeast as it was pretty lively and foamy stuff.. Like I just replied to clibit I actually think the yeast has really complimented this beer so certainly consider revisiting this with it in the future..

As for the head well I am surprised even after a week mine are sometimes a bit cordial looking and this one I dropped teh temp down and even put in teh fridge for 48 hours.. you'd think it would take longer to carb..

Just the way it is though I know 14 days is quoted but sometimes I find even though the fizz is there the tighter head carbonation can come in say 4 weeks ( even under cooler conditioning)

ode homewrecker after a few pimped hoppy coppers.wrecker is a good pint been conditioning since 12th oct still early in a small barrel but most of it bottled upstairs for the xmas binge along with evil dog ipa and loads others

well its my regular Saturday dinner time session, started off with a pimped wilkos hoppy copper, next was surfers reward Cornish ale which I am not to keen on(but its gotta be drunk(:-D) and finishing on a commercial bottle of batemans 617,which was excellent for an ale below 4 avb

My first ever Cooper's Stout and as mentioned in another thread I love it.

Only had a couple as I have to be good because I am on my first charity 5k run tomorrow so have to be a good boy.

I am delighted with my my first ever homebrewed beer.

Tonight I am mostly drinking my Italian father in laws (I'm married to the mob) home made red wine.

I have to say it's a decent drop, smells like fresh tobacco (a good thing in my opinion), a touch of tannin dryness and lots of nice black fruit. No idea what grapes he uses, he imports them from Italy and makes about 500L which he splits with various member of the Italian clan (of which there are many)

That's a cracking looking pint FatDAd. I'm not sure I like to try just having two of those, good luck.

Saturday evening binge,a couple of the pimped coppers again a surfers reward and a commercial oddity in a bottle buddys bourbon flavoured beer with honey, after a few gulps I wasn't sure but the more it goes down the more the honey hits your pallet.a bit sweet but nice

Hmmm. Hit the stocks in the garage tonight. A few (4) of my Green Street IPAs (APA really) and a Fullers ESB clone.

Its a wonder I can still type
