Last night first.
Our thank you to our hosts for basically what is a free 10 day French Alps skiing holiday trip.
A slap up meal out at our expense.
Both stunningly good wines at way less than you would expect at home for the quality. A '22 white Burgundy and a bright vibrant and complex 15 year old Claret. We needed both as we all had the 'taster' menu.
The restaurant owner was effusive over my choices.

I filled my first ever casks back at the start of December last year, just a basic light ale, and all went well enough.

Started drinking them around Christmas, or maybe just before, and they were pretty good.

The problem was, being inexperienced in such things, I'd severely underprimed them leading to all four 2 gallon casks stopping at about two thirds full and refusing to budge, nothing more than a trickle coming out of the taps.

So, purely in the interest of experimenting, I kegged the remainder last week.

The result is actually really nice, starting to taste more like Boddingtons for some reason (out of the cask they tasted like the basic Maris based, Lorien hopped ale I'd intended), hopefully they'll keep long enough for me to get through them!
