Had a bit of a shock today in Sainsbury’s - picked up a nice looking can of beer by Tony Rebel ‘Equaliser’ - didn’t see a price but when scanned it was £5 eek 😱. So that’s going to wait till later - right now this is my single hopped NEIPA - soft tropical fruit, nicely summery, and a darn sight less expensive!

Is that a knock off Tiny Rebel

Grrr autocorrect really bugs me!

Here is the offending article - £5 for a can! It is a golden very hazy beer that looks like tropical fruit juice. Soft v little bitterness but there is some at the end. Aroma is a bit generic new US hoppy, flavour is fruity pine and again just a bit generic. It is a nice soft NEIPA, anything special ? I’m not sure, it is very well balanced but I’ve tasted a lot more interesting NEIPAs.

Hallertau Mittelfruh Pilsener brewed with Lalbrew Diamond lager yeast, month or so kegged
and very tasty chilled from the fridge.

First of a few Verdant cans to try, 10 watt Moon,
Lush grapefruit and lemon bitterness, very drinkable. Not usually one for NEIPA's but this has great
aroma and flavour from Citra and Strata.

Take solace you don't live in Norway.
This Pale Ale (very pleasant bitter with a lightly modern hoppy farewell) bought in Oslo is £10'ish for 50cl.
Makes you appreciate every sup.

There is a growing genericness about these for me tbh. The supermarkets are just stappit full of them and it's all becoming a bit boring. Other than yer top tier from the likes of Overtone, they are all very samey.

Not that I dislike them, just.... Its all been done before which leaves us with nonsense flavours that don't live up to the label. I say this because I'm not long finished a "lemon honey cheesecake juicy sour IPA." I **** you not, that was the description.

Visited a craft beer shop in Paisley today to pick up a bottle of commercial Saison to compare to my own. Ended up picking up a couple plus a Sabro IPA that turned out to be non alcoholic! 🤦‍♂️

First up, the zero alcohol Sabro IPA, to get it out the way 😄. It's actually really really good. I thought it was a bit 'thin' at first but once the first gulp goes down, you get a nice mouthfeel. Aroma's not that strong - a bit dank and grassy, but the flavour is very tropical, with hints of pineapple and citrus. If it wasn't for the fact it's £2.80 a can, I'd buy more of these for occasions when I'm the designated driver. Need to look into other suppliers...

You went to Sainsbury's and left with a Tiny Rebel beer and not a can of Northern Monk's Heathen???
Does not compute :confused.:
