It’s Christmas holiday time for me, I’m off for two weeks now and ready to celebrate. Kicking things off with a beer I’ve been sitting on for a couple of weeks. It’s an American Brown Ale kindly sent to me by @phildo79.
Pours really well, with a long lasting fluffy white head. Colour is dark amber heading into brown and the clarity is excellent. Aroma is a big hit of dark chocolate and cherry. Roasty malt flavours predominate with just a hint of astringency that dissipates to dryness pulling you back for another big swig.
Brown ale isn’t a style I’d normally gravitate towards, but this one is a corker. It’s a celebration of roasted malt, the recipe has been well planned with (I’m presuming) clean US hops sitting in the background getting the job done, delivering bitterness, a hint of citrus and pine and getting back out of the way to let the roasted malts shine. Great brew mate, and thanks for kicking off my break in such style👏

First slurp of the GH Oatmeal stout
Very cold, because it's been sitting in the garage for the past three weeks. Finally got it into a keg and gassed it up.
If you've not tried this GH recipe it's well worth a try: just enough dark malt flavour to be 'present' but not OTT; and a velvet mouthfeel (perhaps that's the oatmeal).
OG was 1.052 and the S-04 brought it down to 1.012 despite the 67ºc mash. Say what you like about that yeast, but it's a hard worker and it flocculates like nothing on earth.
I can see this keg going down pretty fast acheers.

That’s a lovely brew. I’ve made it a couple of times.

It was what I send out for secret Santa last year 👍🏻

My Vienna lager...ice cold (and fizzy!) out the shed. Super!
I'm a bit miffed that my HB stocks are rather poor...I need a kick up the ar5e...
Plus I'm a bit angry having had 4 hours sleep off nights, got up to wait for gas man to service boiler...but never turned up...another wasted day.
