Intrigued by the aldi/lidl reviews that appear from time to time...and trying to protect my reserves I popped into Lidl and bought a selection of their cut price brews.
At the moment I'm drinking the Patronus wheat beer. For a quid-odd it's OK but lacks a bit of taste. I would get it again.

Don't like to criticise a small brewery but not a fan either, tasted like the beer was infected or maybe Brett got loose, or maybe I just don't like the taste of their house strain.
I agree Jim, but sometimes you need to call something out for what it is. Boss breweries focus HAS changed they are in supermarkets and wetherspoons. Beerriff to my knowledge are not and IMO their beers are better. Gower brewery are just MEH but at least their marketing isn't as out of touch with the product. Hmm, what does a cartoon super hero have to do with beer 🤔 I can only think of this

and yes I have had a duff beer, but no way am I going to try this...

This particular one is only available in the bottle but Holdens is an excellent brewery with pubs mainly in the Black Country proper or neighbouring villages such as Trysull in South Staffs. I do not think I have set foot in Stourport since about 1977 but in that area look out for beers by Hobsons or Wye Valley (HPA is fabulous when kept well) or Purity from nearby Warwickshire. All three breweries produce dome great stuff but if you come across a tied Holdens pub it should be sound.

Thanks, my first Purity beer found!
Hurrah, we're in the Cardinal's Hat in Worcester drinking Mad Goose (bred indoors due to bird flu regulations).
Fresh, hoppy and very drinkable, thanks!
SWMBO'D is on barrel-drawn Victoria Perry cider. Tastes like proper real cider to me.

I must do a quick catch up on yesterday's samplings at a sad occasion in Stourport-on-Severn,
but good beers to help lighten the memorial along.
These three beers on the bar all good in their own way, From Banks dark Mild through Wainwright's to Bombadier. Along with daughter's Bombadier then followed by a double gin and Fevertree tonic.

Gower black on cask is lovely. Not that I have seen it on cask often. Lighthouse lager is nice and refreshing

Hi, we stayed in the cardinals hat earlier this year but camped in tripelb up the road there is a grungier bar next door to it. Both highly recommended

Festival Porter - been in the bottle about 3 months and very mellow. Quite malty. I took a bottle to a friend who runs the place I buy my vinyl. He's bak to brewing but on a larger scale, about 100L a go. he's got a lager on the go and has promised me a bottle in due course.

Here's a link to his record selling site for interest - I'll understand it the Mods deem it breaking the rules but here it is anyway. Core Of The Poodle - CORE OF THE POODLE

Had a bretted saison next kindly sent over by @samale. Quick thoughts on this one as I was watching the football as I was drinking. Nice Saison, fairly dry with medium high carbonation..straw colour.
I think it needed a few months extra conditioning as the Brett character was very mild and it missed the fruity/citrus I like from some Brett. The base yeast flavours weren't really to my taste, sort of a earthy/musty flavour. Nice , drinkable beer but needed a little more Brett to help the base yeast for me .

Was going to have this tonight. Think I will give it a bit longer. Condition warm or cold?
