Not sad to see the back of that day. Working in a nursing home all day and the heat was on full whack. My sweat was sweating.
First gold ipa
First gold ipa
My own, quite similar to my 'Fart Wine' which I eagerly poured for a big group of friends without tasting first. Never again, i've never lived it down.Your own farts or someone else’s ? I find mine are bearable but other peoples noooooo

A night at the “fartatarium” I can imagine it.My own, quite similar to my 'Fart Wine' which I eagerly poured for a big group of friends without tasting first. Never again, i've never lived it down.
It was a simple smash to see what chevalier malt was like and based on an old 1868 telly ipa recipie someone shared with me. It had over 300g first gold leaf hops in it. Brewed some months ago and it was eye wateringly bitter it’s only mellowing now and possibly has some way to go yet.I would like to do a First Gold IPA soon, mind sharing your recipe?
I think the ibu’s came in at 155 on brewers friend. It has a very full mouthfeel and I’m enjoying it but the wife complains she can smell the hops from me at 30 paces lolIt was a simple smash to see what chevalier malt was like and based on an old 1868 telly ipa recipie someone shared with me. Here’s what I very loosely based it on ,it’s very earthy with the bitterness blending well with the malt. Chevalier is one tasty malt. View attachment 74959

Yep. Think it was 325g. Like I say it’s bitter. I brewed it to see what beer was like back then lol. The bitterness a few months ago was not pleasant but the beer was originally brewed to be transported to India so I left it for a good few months and it’s not unpleasant now I would say marmalade is the dominant hop flavour . Chevalier malt is a heritage malt and it carries the bitterness well. Malt flavour is fantastic seeing as it was only that and nothing else.Just zoomed in again on the recipe you posted, 284g of goldings at 90mins, did you boil 300g first gold for 90?

Thanks, the bitterness and flavour aren't quite there. this was a split batch with the last hops as an aroma stand rather than flame out. I'm trying different yeasts to try to get it closer and will share a recipe when I'm more confident in it if that's ok.Nice looking pint and well deserved as thats not an easy task in today’s climate.
I love this beer on draft, it’s not the same in a bottle.Heard this beer mentioned a few times on here so thought it was worth a go. Nice beer. Nice and smooth with a lovely hoppy finish. Very good.
Edit* extremely smooth.
