Yeah, I’ve not been very impressed with those Cloudwater collab beers. One or two not bad but none great.

Hopefully cloudwater will ditch the partnership

Started with a wopf rock from Sharps not seen one of these in the shops for a long time. I've never been keen but took a punt again and it's still very meh.

And then a Bengal Lancer which is one of my faves, I'd like to try and clone one in the future

I think Sea Fury is the best ale from Sharps. It’s one of my favourites but l’m not anywhere near as keen on any of the others.

Yeah I agree, Sea Fury is great, obviously Doom Bar is the one you see most but it's not a patch on Sea Fury. The Pilsner (cant remember the name) is dreadful.

You're right, I think it has to be kept well. I've had too many bad pints, can't drink it now.

It's a much underrated beer, that one. I think people assume it's rubbish because it's so cheap, but it's a nice, ordinary light bitter. I'd love to try it on cask, but I've never seen it.

I do actually find Banks Bitter rather nice but as I generally have a keg of session bitter on tap I rarely buy commercial bitter outside of pubs (Also I find bottled bitters tend to be just slightly too highly carbonated for my taste).

As for what I’m drinking Youngs Harvest Barley Wine Kit, I brewed this over a year ago and it is just genuinely nice I don’t drink it often as it is the opposite of a session beer and nice to drink while I wait for the batch of Irish Red I’m brewing to come to the boil.

Time for a guest ale. This one came from @LisaMC and is a 4.6% Vienna Lager.

It looks good from the off - crystal clear amber nectar, nicely carbonated.

Aroma is quite low-level being very cold but definitely some grainy-sweet malt, a little spice and maybe just a hint of caramel, otherwise very clean.

The flavours are initially quite complex and difficult to distinguish - a rush of malt, hops, bitterness, sweetness. After a few seconds a spicy hop flavour steps up and fades to a lingering toasty malt flavour. Very nice. The bitterness is quite soft and nicely balanced. Smooth and easy drinking.
