The weather is a bit mucky this afternoon so I’m in the mood for some comfort food and drink. Food is a pepperoni pizza. Drink is this Innis & Gunn beer matured in a rum cask (they didn’t have any barrel-aged imperial stouts, unfortunately).

A Märzen in the sun. Never did finish the lawn; had a glorious swim at Port Muck harbour, it was an almost tropical 11.5C in the sea today, bottled up a load of this to send out and got Pliny into a keg and onto gas instead.

Two more French beers. The IPA was punchy but good. 6.2% and very Belgian in style. The local craft beers all seem to be influenced by Belgium rather than the US. 75cl bottle slipped down bit too quickly.

The Jade is bland but very drinkable while I tend the charcoal. I do have a soft spot for the 25cl French beer.

This Dunkel is dangerous it’s 5% which while not super strong combined with being really easy to drink makes for a beer far to easy to over indulge on.

Tonight I'll be drinking my Theakston Best clone. It came out a little over at 4.2% but the flavour and colour are where they should be. A nice easy-drinking ordinary bitter.

Brewed this English bitter as a user upper and, as they often seem to, turned out lovely.
Pale MO, Golden Promise, Cara Gold, Dark crystal and touch of chocolate malt.
Admiral to bitter with EKG at 10mins, hopstand and dry hop.

Few of these then roast chicken and early bed before nice short week ahead.

Too cold to be in the garden but here's my Exe Valley Dobb's Bitter nice and soft after four months in the bottle. I always think a head from adjuncts is far superior to one induced by heading powder or enhancer. Cheers!

Turned out great, thank you. The baked potatoes and sweetcorn were lovely too. Spatchcock chicken is great on the BBQ, did a little smoking too with apple wood chips .

Back in Blighty, so I must get reacquainted with the homebrews in the garage.
It had to be a welcome-home Mongrel blended ale.
This is a way better bitter than it has any right to be.
Gee, but it's good to be back home.
