Sometimes Wednesday being done deserves a celebration...
DSC_1465~2.JPG

This is a lovely beer, like a roasting pine tree.
Happy Wednesday folks.
cheers:

This is a new one on me, I had no idea any Trappist Ale is brewed in England. Found it in a beer shop on Whitby this morning. A little lively on opening ( lost a little) but a lovely flavour with a hint of figs.
Good to know, I have a bottle in the cupboard still. It was a Christmas present.

Having another one from @Alastair70. This one is an Irish Red Ale.

Although this is not a style I would choose for myself, I am enjoying it. The husband prefers this one to the Märzen, and I’m the opposite.

The style is far superior to the bog standard English bitter in my opinion, and as all Alastair’s beers are, it is full of flavour and extremely well-made.

It oozes glass-appeal with the stunning red colour, and from what I can gather is bang on the style.

Thank you muchly for both beers you sent Mr 70!

I’m having a beer from Buxton Brewery.

I may have mentioned it before but Buxton and the surrounding area have a special place in my heart. I spent my youth in and around Buxton, I must have walked hundreds of miles around the area. I even still have a child’s fantasy book set in the area called The Moon of Gomrath - here it is…

Inside, a map of the area and landmarks in the story, all real and soooo familiar. Can you feel my love? ;)

Incidentally, that book is nearly 50 years old! 😂

I’m the wrong person to ask, I love it on principle!

Actually I would say this particular beer is nice, maybe not special? It tastes like a DIPA but is not cloyingly sweet as some can be. It’s also not massively hoppy or bitter but is quite nicely balanced.

Thank you Tess. I’m with Jim, it’s the Märzen by a whisker for me, although I was really happy with both beers. I’ll be brewing them again with a few tweaks based on the judges feedback from the LAB Open.
Glad you enjoyed them :hat:

Nope you’re not with Jim, you’re with me. I prefer the Märzen too! Read it again! 😜

Mk II Summit IPA.

This version has a small amount of both light and medium crystal and the 5 min hop changed from Northern Brewer to Fuggles.

Not sure the hop swap works but I like the touch of crystal. Might try EKG next time.

Not clearing very well; didn't use any finings in the FV this time.

My eldest son’s girlfriend is from Whaley Bridge. I think that’s near Buxton?
