First taste of my Hansel Dunkel. Been in the bottle 10 days and nicely carbed. A head forms but disappears quickly. It lacks a bit of taste at the moment...at only 20 IBU this maybe a bit low on hops for my taste. Naturally this needs more time to mature so it can only get better👍.

It is just a tad early and at 9.5% this is quite a big beer to start but I’m quite excited to try it.

…actually it isn’t as nice as I’d imagined. The aroma is quite like a Tripel but with grassy hops so maybe the aroma at least is along the lines I might expect from the description on the bottle. The flavour though is a bit odd to me, the hop flavour is grassy and quite harsh - like they’ve used cryo hops maybe? The bitterness doesn’t work for me either it seems to overpower the lovely malty-sweet Belgian beer. I’m a bit disappointed by this one after looking forward to trying it. 😢

Just broke a rule and had a lunchtime pint after comparatively good news at a hospital appointment in Liverpool with a specialist team. On the way to Wales but staying at the Rowton Poplars Hotel just south of Chester for one night. Thoroughly reccomend it and this Spitting Feathers Brainstorm which I suspect derives its flavour from Chinook hops.

I wasn't a big fan either. The original is still the best.

Have you got a keg you can put it into? I’ve done that before, bought a 32-pint box of Sea Fury and kegged it. Nice.
I'll persevere! It's going down well actually despite being a bit underwhelming 🤣
Just missing the hops, nothing worse than reading the blurb on a beer about which hops they've used and then not tasting anything!
