How did the camping go?
Certainly a cracker of a day today for it....

I think the rain hasn’t quite made it over the channel - yet!Judging from the photos, it's good weather on you side of the Channel. It's absolutely hissing down in sunny Brittany and has been all day.
Anybody following the Tour de France ? Some silly old bat leapt out of the crowd with a cardboard placard and brought the whole peleton down. Hope they hang her.
Have never seen them available locally. Going by the reviews on this thread I'm glad that I haven't seen them.Another local beer and again a poor effort. Thank god I didn’t pay for itView attachment 49744

Alas when I bought the grain for this one I bought enough for two batches so it will be a while but defiantly plan to give it a go as while nice I do find it a tad sweet so am looking forward to seeing the impact of swapping out some of the Vienna for Pilsner. You’ll have to try V2 next
Nah, go straight to V2. You’ll still use the rest of the Vienna when you make the third batch.Alas when I bought the grain for this one I bought enough for two batches so it will be a while but defiantly plan to give it a go as while nice I do find it a tad sweet so am looking forward to seeing the impact of swapping out some of the Vienna for Pilsner.
I might just do that just starting on a glass of Bramling Cross and Styrian Golding SASION and the contrast to the Simmer Breeze really brings home how sweet the Vienna leaves a beer.Nah, go straight to V2. You’ll still use the rest of the Vienna when you make the third batch.
Yeah, you should move on to V2. Less sweet, more hoppy, dry finish, better colour.I might just do that just starting on a glass of Bramling Cross and Styrian Golding SASION and the contrast to the Simmer Breeze really brings home how sweet the Vienna leaves a beer.

Also reminds me how much I love SAISON it’s bone dry with an earthy floral flavour with a little black current.
I'm ashamed to say that I know nothing about saison. I've never seen it on the shelves in the supermarkets, I guess it's a regional thing, and I've been reluctant to make it as I've heard that one of the yeast strains in it eats everything in its path and is extremely hard to get rid of (S. Diastaticus) or is this a myth?I might just do that just starting on a glass of Bramling Cross and Styrian Golding SASION and the contrast to the Simmer Breeze really brings home how sweet the Vienna leaves a beer.

Certainly Saison yeast is high attenuating at well over 90% but I’ve never had a problem with follow-on brews of other ales and I take no special measures or precautions. It is a nice ale in the summer - dry, slightly fruity, spicy, and often quite spritzy.I'm ashamed to say that I know nothing about saison.
