Bramling Cross & Styrian Golding SAISON 5%


I had split this batch between bottles and a 6.5L corny. The bottles I drank fairly young, while this has had fifty days in the keg to condition, and has led to a rather different beer. The black current flavour from the Bramling Cross has mellowed somewhat and the somewhat earthy flavour of the Styrian Golding is coming through (earlier on it was completely overwhelmed by the Bramling Cross) making for a much more balanced beer. It’s 5.1% so not a low APA beer per say but is a pleasant change after drinking so many of my beers which where in the 6.5-7% range.

Happy Weekend all, enjoying a Mangrove Jacks Juicy Session IPA in the back garden. Listening to a playlist, somehow Blue Jeans by Neill Diamond has made it onto the list. Not my addition, my wife’s I’m sure. But I’m loving it. Now Bloc Party , it’s freezing here but the fresh air is great. Enjoy

How's the aroma now?

It's more than acceptable. Put it this way if I ordered it a bar I would have another. It tastes spot on
Higher mash temp and more calcium chloride has sorted the mouth feel

The hubby has made a Brewdog punk ipa clone but we had to alter the hops to match what we had. It’s quite nice even though it’s bitter. Quite sick of wine now! Bring on the beer! Still in the conditioning stage but we wanted to try it.

Just poured Mrs C a glass of Bohemian Lager. She took one sip, licked her lips and disappeared clutching the glass with both hands. I assume that's a good sign?
